Our speakers
Graham Hayes MA VetMB Cert SAS DipECVS MRCVS completed a small animal surgery residency at The
Queens Veterinary School Hospital at Cambridge University before joining us at Woodcroft referrals in 2011. He
has won various awards including the Dunkin Award 2011 by the BSAVA and the Leslie Vaughan Prize 2011 by
the BVOA. He gained the European Diploma in Veterinary Surgery in 2012.
Alex Smithson BVM&S MRCVS embarked on specific training in dental, oral and maxillofacial medicine and
surgery in 2000. Since then he has pursued specialist education in Europe and America. Alex teaches for
multiple CPD providers and veterinary centres in the UK and Europe and is a lecturer in Dentistry and Oral
Surgery at Nottingham Vet School.
In the first lecture Graham will discuss the management of blocked cats inc. complications e.g. rupture of the
urethra. The surgical technique for perineal urethrostomy will be described. In the final lecture, Alex will provide
an update covering the current treatment modalities available for feline gingivitis stomatitis complex. He will also
cover the diagnostic evaluation of cases including intra-oral assessment and dental radiography.
