Where did you do your work placement ?
I did a six-week work placement in a computer firm called Nomatec in Avranches.
I did my first work placement in a computer firm “ Informatique de la Baie”, in Avranches.
I did my second work placement in the Town Hall in Avranches
I did my work experience in a bank in the “Crédit Agricole Normandie” in Saint lô in the
Computer and Data Processing Department.
I did my my first work placement in the Computer Depatment of the hospital in Avranches.
I did my work experience in the Prefecture in Alençon
I did my work experience in the Town Hall in Granville and more precisely in the Data
Processing Department.
I did my first six-week work placement in the CPAM ( the Social Security Offices) in St-Lô
I worked in the IT Department (Information Technology) in the hospital in Granville.
I did my work placement in the ACSEA in Hérouville Saint Clair.
What sort of firm is it? How many employees are there? What is the main activity of
the firm?
When did you do your work experience? I did my placement from the twenty-fourth of
May to the 4th of July.
What were your working hours?
My working hours were from half past eight until 12., and in the afternoon from 2 p.m. until
7 :15 p.m. every day, Tuesday to Saturday
I had my day off on Monday
Who was your tutor? What was his position in the company? Did you get on well with
him? Was he helpful to you?
What were the staff like? What were your colleagues like? Did they make you feel at
home? Were they helpful?
My colleagues were all very friendly and helpful. They made me feel at home. They were
very welcoming
I got on very well with my colleagues.
They were always ready to give advice. I learned a lot about good work practice.
There was a good atmosphere . They helped me whenever I had a problem.
Did you do any routine maintenance work?
I carried out a lot of routine maintenance work. For example, I repaired computers. I
replaced components, which were faulty.
Printers were always breaking down. There were paper jams which I had to sort out.
Sometimes there were problems with the printing server which I had to deal with by restarting
the printing server. I tested the printers to check if there was a fault. Sometimes the problems
were simple , like adding toner to the printers.
Employees in my firm called for help when their computer crashed and I had to solve the
problem.
I tested all sorts of peripherals to check for faults, for example printers screens scanners.
I had to verify connections
I had to check the parameters of the network connection.
Did you become familiar with any new software packages?

Did you learn more about the job of a network administrator?/Did you get a good
insight into the job of network administrator?
What, in your opinion, are the qualities of a good network administrator?

On the whole were you satisfied with your work placement?
All in all ,my work placement was a very valuable and worthwhile experience and I was able
to put into practice what I had learned in school. This was my first training period in computer
science and it was very interesting and instructive.
The positive points are that I learnt lots of new things about network technology which will be
very useful to me in my job as a network administrator
Moreover, I got a good insight into this type of work and the working conditions, day by day.
In conclusion, this training work experience allowed me to discover the job of a network
administrator and to put into practice the theory I had learned in school.
If I were to do it again I would . It was my first experience of work in the field of information
technology and it was very interesting and exciting.
My work experience was a first step into the working world and I am looking forward to
starting work as a network administrator , when I get my BTS.
I didn’t really have any difficulties during my training period, but, for me, the worst thing
was that the period was too short.. But I think I will really enjoy being in the world of work
later. I am keen on computers and everything to do with them
