Homecoming Tickets will be on sale during lunch from Wednesday, October 2 through Friday, October 11. Tickets are $10 each. The dance will be held on Saturday, October 26 from 9 p.m. until 12:00 a.m. Everyone who purchases a dance ticket must have watched the dress code powerpoint. Anyone who is bringing a date who does not attend CHS may pick up a form at the time that they purchase a ticket or outside Ms. Tompkins's room (W211). All non-CHS forms and ID's are due to Ms. Tompkins by 3:40 p.m. on October 16. Everyone attending a CHS dance must be between 9th grade and 20 years old. The Haunting of Clinton is the theme for this year's homecoming t-shirt and was designed by CHS student Caitlin Jiles. The shirts are $15 for long sleeve and $12 for short sleeve and you can choose between lime green and gray. The deadline is October 11 to order your shirt! You can purchase a t-shirt during lunch in the Commons at the homecoming ticket table. 4. Tuesday, October 8 Volleyball Match at home vs Madison Central. HUGE district game. Students get in for $3 with ID. In between the JV (5:30) and Varsity (6:30) match, we will recognize any cancer survivors. We would love any staff/students/parents in our district that have beaten cancer to be our special guests. It is also a PINK out game (Dig Pink), so wear pink and come support. There will be a donation jar for Blair E. Batson as well at the gate and at concessions. Go Arrows! 5. Culture Awareness Society is a club for students who are interested in learning about cultures around the world in a fun way. Go to Ms Olinger's room to pick up an application. Digital Media Technology's Artwork along with other entries will be displayed at the Mississippi Arts Center in downtown Jackson from October 3rd through the end of October. Ladies and Gentlemen, it's time to clear your throats, tune your instruments and dust off your dancing shoes. Sumner Hill will be hosting "Clinton's Top Talent" on November 15 and 16. Think "American Idol", Clinton style. The competition is open city wide to anyone living in the Clinton City Limits. There will be 2 divisions - The Jr. Division will be grades 7 - 9 and the SR Division will be grades 10 - 12. The preliminary round will be Friday night, November 15 at 7 pm and a panel of judges will choose who gets to return Saturday night November 16 to battle it out for Clinton's Top Talent. $20 registration fee deadline is November 1. Application criteria: student must be a MS resident and a high school senior graduating from a MS high school in Spring 2014, submit only one application and essay, plan to enroll in an accredited college or university as a full-time student in Fall 2014 AND submit their application with essay electronically or by mail by December 1, 2013. Juniors: Get2College is offering a scholarship competition for residents or Hinds, Madison and Rankin Counties. Students could win a $500 scholarship. Voices of Democracy Patriotic Audio Essay Competition: The Voices of Democracy each year conducts a scholarship competition across the United States. Grade prize is a $30,000 scholarship. For entry, students (grades 9-12) can submit an application and a 3-5 minute audio essay. This year’s theme is, Why I’m Optimistic about our Nation’s Future. All entries must be received by November 1, 2013. For more information please stop by the Career Center located in the Counseling Office. Any interested music majors or minors can stop by the Music Department’s booth to sign in and collect information about the Music Department. Mississippi State's School of Architecture will offer a free workshop for high school and college students who want to know more about developing quality resumes and portfolios in architecture, art, interior design or building construction. High-achieving students who plan to become teachers now have a new financial aid opportunity available to them. The Teacher Education Scholars Program provides a $15,000 per year award, which covers tuition, room and board and books for each scholar. Applications for the program are available online. Students can now apply for the Teacher Education Scholars Program by completing the online application for state aid, available online at www.mississippi.edu/financialaid.
