Y5 VICTORIAN CLASSROOM VISIT
In connection with our Victorian topic, we have planned trips to the
Victorian Classroom at Springfield School. We will be using public transport
to travel into town and back.

Friday 20th March 2015 – Y5SS to visit Victorian Classroom.

Monday 23rd March 2015 – Y5CC to visit Victorian Classroom
During this visit, pupils will spend a day working as Victorian children in a Victorian
classroom. It will greatly enhance your child’s experience if they wear Victorian type
clothes and bring a Victorian style packed lunch.
Clothing suggestions
Boys: Dark trousers tucked into socks. Plain/striped/checked shirt
Shoes or boots (not trainers)
Girls: Long skirt
Plain/checked blouse
Shawl
Shoes or boots (not trainers)
The centre provides caps, waistcoats and aprons.
Packed lunch suggestions
Bread, cheese, pies, pasties, chicken, jacket potato, “home-made” buns, scones,
biscuits, fruit (apple, pear, plum)
Lunch should be wrapped in brown/greaseproof paper and carried in a cloth, tin or
basket. Please avoid plastic or foil, as these weren’t available during the Victorian
period. Please ensure drinks are in a plastic bottle only.
There is a small shop which helps to fund the centre. It sells Victorian themed goods for
the children to buy at the end of their visit. Prices range from 50p to £3. We suggest a
maximum of £3 spending money.
The cost of the trip is £7.00. May we remind you that payment for school visits is
voluntary, but should insufficient contributions be received the visit will not be
able to take place. If you are paying by cheque could you please write your child’s
name and class on the reverse. Payment can also be made online via ParentPay.
