Founded in 1949 by the Sisters of St. Joseph of the Third Order of St. Francis, Marymount

Dear friend of Marymount Hospital,
December marks the 20th anniversary of a significant milestone in the history of Marymount
Hospital and Cleveland Clinic. On Dec. 21, 1995, Cleveland Clinic and Marymount Hospital signed an agreement to function as a single entity, with a common bottom line. The agreement spelled out a collaborative approach to sharing clinical and educational information, research, technology and managed care responsibilities.
At the time, no one recognized the importance of the event or predicted what was to follow over the next several years. The partnership – the first of its type between Cleveland Clinic and a community hospital – represented the birth of what would soon become the Cleveland Clinic
