Box 551 Wallan VIC 3756 MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION MISSION STATEMENT: The Wallan Tennis Club will provide the community and surrounding district with tennis facilities, competitions and events which promote tennis as an active healthy lifestyle for the whole family within a friendly and safe environment. The Wallan Tennis Club will grow with the community to meet the demands of tennis in the future. The Wallan Tennis Club began operation 40 years ago with a handful of asphalt courts. Today the Club boasts 6 sand filled artificial grass courts, lights on 4 courts and excellent club house facilities. The Club is a Member of Tennis Victoria and is committed to on going monitoring of risk management strategies and policies to ensure the health and wellbeing of all members and visitors. As part of this commitment the Wallan Tennis Club is a sunsmart and smokefree Club. MEMBERSHIP FEES Membership categories include Senior, Junior, Social, Student and Family. A family covers two adults and all children under 18 years plus dependent full time students. Social members are not eligible to play competition. See membership form for up to date membership fees. In addition to Club Membership Fees each member with playing rights must pay a registration levy as determined by Tennis Victoria. This levy includes Personal Accident Insurance Cover. COMPETITION TENNIS Senior Competition is played within the Whittlesea District Tennis Association and consists of two seasons: winter and summer. Summer commences in October finishing in March and Winter commences in May finishing in September. Games consist of home and away. Competition is played on Saturday afternoon beginning at 1.30pm sharp. Following play the Home team provides an afternoon tea for all to share. Junior competition is played within the Broadford and District Junior Tennis Association and is played on Saturday morning beginning at 9.00am. Players are requested to be at the courts 15 minutes prior to the beginning of play. The competition consists of two seasons: summer and winter in line with the senior competition and are home and away. Junior competition relies on parents/guardians participation to volunteer to assist with team supervision, scoring, canteen duty and traveling. Junior Players must be under 18 years of age as of Oct 1. Each Senior and Junior team is allocated a team captain or a team coordinator who is responsible for the team; to provide a team roster and input the scores online. Each week a team supervisor is allocated to the Junior Team. All competition players must be full members of the Club. MEMBER BENEFITS Membership allows participation in all Club events including the Christmas Party and Presentation nights. From time to time Parent/Junior social events are held. A small fee is charged to cover the cost of balls and lights. Each year in November the Club holds the annual Club Championships where events are scheduled for Juniors and Seniors in singles, doubles and mixed events. A small fee is charged for each event entered. Presentation of awards is held in combination with our Christmas Party in December. Membership entitles you to use the courts at anytime when they are not being used for competition. Each membership will receive a combination to the combination lock on the gate. The combination will be changed frequently. UNIFORM There is no official uniform but Players are required to wear suitable sporting attire and correct footwear. Players are requested to wear plain T-shirts and not to wear singlets or jeans. COACHING Coaching is provided by an independent service provider contracted to the club.
