These procedures are to be followed, and are solely the students' responsibilities. The Placement Department will not accept excuses on why the student cannot comply with these instructions. Failure to follow these instructions is cause to discontinue assistance. Students are required to show proof that they are eligible to legally work in the United States. Students shall acknowledge that there is a certain amount of time given by the Placement Department to attain employment in accordance with their course program. Students are required to have all past work history, addresses, phone numbers, etc., readily available in order to begin placement procedures. Students shall provide at least 5 leads of their own in their ideal place of work. Students are required to study all material provided by the Placement Department. It is the responsibility of the students to keep track of every job lead given to them. Responsibility for Coordination of Services The Placement Department is responsible for coordination of all placement services. Counseling of students The Placement Assistance Office will work diligently with each completer until he/she successfully obtains employment. The Placement Assistance Office extends complete assistance and counseling to the soon-to-be-completers or existing completers in job search techniques resume preparation, interview skills etc. The Placement Assistance Office helps completers develop and/or locate positions which best match the student’s capabilities and experiences. The Placement Assistance Office is always available to assist completers in future years when the completer is ready for placement or with Alumni who contemplate a change in employment. Only completers of InfoTech are eligible for placement assistance from the placement department. In order to effectively utilize the services of the Placement Department, the soon-to-be completers or completers must agree, at a minimum, to the following policies regarding placement assistance: 1. 2. 3. 4. An initial meeting with the Placement Assistance Office within 60 days before the graduation date. Completion and submission of the Employment Questionnaire to the Placement Assistance Office within 60 days before the graduation date. Completion and submission of a typed resume to the Placement Assistance Office in an acceptable format within 60 days before the graduation date. Weekly communication with the Placement Assistance Office either on one-to-one basis or through participation in placement orientation workshops. If an appointment with an employer or with the Placement Assistance Office cannot be kept, prior to the appointment, a call must be made to the Placement Assistance Office and/or employer to reschedule. In order to enhance the employment potential of each completer, the Placement Assistance Office should be notified immediately of the results of each interview and when a job is offered and/or accepted. Completers must have the legal right to accept employment in the United States (Completers who are not citizens must produce proof of eligibility to obtain employment, i.e. a Green Card, Work Permit, or letter from the USCIS showing a valid “A” number.) Completers must keep the Placement Assistance Office advised on any changes in name (in case of marriage), address, telephone number, address, temporary absence from the area, and of course, employment status. When meeting with the Placement Assistance Office and/or an employer, always DRESS FOR SUCCESS. Students should be dressed in the proper business attire for an interview. Students are required to notify job placement before and after each interview. Students shall follow-up on the interviews they have attended to either by contacting the employer via phone or through means of a written letter. Completion of externship All soon-to-be-completers and completers must attend placement workshops organized by placement assistance office on a regular basis. InfoTech’s primary objectives are to student training and educate each student as well as assist them with in their chosen field. InfoTech does not offer employment as an incentive to Career Development and Employment Assistance This process is on-going throughout a student’s training and included in each subject or module. Instruction is designed to give a student an edge in successfully gaining the employment he/she is training for. Instruction may include areas such as: proper grooming for successful interviews, resume writing, successful interviewing techniques, mock interviews, and employment applications. Instruction through career development leads many students to eye opening approaches to job searching and ultimately, successful employment. InfoTech’s Placement Assistance Office provides direct assistance as students near their completion date and beyond graduation. InfoTech College DOES NOT GUARANTEE EMPLOYMENT OR INCOME LEVEL. Only the employer can make that final decision. Some companies contact the College for likely candidates for employment; known vacancies in the field will be made known to our completers seeking employment. We hope that students read this carefully, and understand this policy. InfoTech’s Placement Assistance Office provides direct assistance as students near their completion date and beyond graduation. Delays in program completion may result in delaying employment assistance activity. The student will be required to meet with the Placement Assistance Office. Each student shall prepare a typed resume and submit to the Placement Assistance Office and a subsequent appointment will be set to ensure personal attention to the student’s job seeking needs. Students should bring their resume and always be DRESSED FOR SUCCESS, as one never knows when an employer may call. Page 3 of 4 InfoTech College is here to serve its' students, and appreciates the cooperation of its students, and former students. InfoTech provides placement assistance to all program completers. Los Angeles County is one of the fastest growing medical and nursing employment markets in the country. InfoTech maintains a Placement Assistance Office to assist completers in contacting companies in order to secure employment. The Placement Assistance Office acts as a liaison between the completer and the employment community. Information on job search techniques is provided to soon-to-be-completers students and completers based on current needs of local businesses and industries. Communications network between the placement coordinator, the staff, the faculty, and various businesses and industries of the service area To link with the various business and industries of the area which are likely to hire our graduates, the Placement Coordinator visits new and existing sites every week. In addition, employers are invited to campus twice per year for job fairs and advisory committees. The faculty and staff work closely with the Placement Coordinator to give information about the skills and abilities of the completer, so that a suitable match can be made between the employment site and the completer. The Placement Coordinator is given a progress report by the Registrar, so that the Coordinator can get an idea of the students’ attendance habits and grades. Furthermore, the Instructors communicate with the Placement Coordinator once per week in a daily faculty meeting so that background information can be given regarding the completers. File/listing of employers and employment opportunities. The Placement Assistance Office is responsible for maintaining a file of all local employment agencies, local employers related to occupational programs and employment opportunities or job leads. NOTE: All completers will be considered to be in need of placement assistance unless a signed student waiver of placement assistance, with a written explanation, is in the student file. Completers waiving placement assistance may still receive placement assistance by notifying the Placement Assistance Office that they again wish to be placed in an active, placement-seeking category. A successful job search is dependent upon a self-confident, well-prepared applicant with a pre-planned strategy. The entire staff as well as the Placement Assistance Office will assist in this effort.
