Safe Schools Leadership Award
for
Chiefs and Sheriffs
Is there an outstanding chief or sheriff in your department or school system?
The Safe Schools Leadership Award for Chiefs and Sheriffs is presented in recognition of an
Arkansas Chief or Sheriff that has made a specific, significant contribution to their School Resource
Officer (SRO) Program. The administrators nominated for this award must have demonstrated the
following:
-
support for SROs, fellow administrators and educational administrators in his or her
community;
-
commitment to the continued development of SRO programs;
-
development of positive SRO and school administration relationships; and
-
dedication to continued education and training of SROs.
Nominations may be submitted by SROs, peers, supervisors, school personnel, students or
community leaders. The award presentation will be during the Arkansas Safe Schools Conference’s
Awards Breakfast held on Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at the Wyndham Riverfront Hotel, North Little
Rock. The deadline to submit nominations is Friday, May 14, 2010.
Safe Schools Leadership Award

Education Administrators
Is there an outstanding educator/administrator in your school system?
The Safe Schools Leadership Award for Education Administrators is presented in recognition of
a school administrator, faculty or staff member that has made a specific, significant contribution to
their School Resource Officer (SRO) Program. This award is not limited to superintendents,
principals, and assistant principals. The administrator nominated for this award must have
demonstrated the following:
-
development of positive relationships with the SRO in their school;
-
commitment to enhancing campus safety quality;
-
promotion of the school-based law enforcement mission; and
-
dedication to serve SROs above and beyond what is expected of their position.
Nominations may be submitted by SROs, peers, supervisors, school personnel, students or
community leaders. The award presentation will be during the Arkansas Safe Schools Conference’s
Awards Breakfast held on Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at the Wyndham Riverfront Hotel, North Little

SRO of the Year Kool-Aid Award
Is there an outstanding School Resource Officer in your department or school system?
The SRO of the Year Kool-Aid Award is presented in recognition of a SRO who has had a positive
impact on their school community and has demonstrated support for a safe and positive learning
environment. The officer nominated for this award must have demonstrated the following as a SRO:
-
development of positive mentor relationships with students;
-
assistance in improving student, staff and faculty attitudes toward safety issues;
-
enhancement of campus safety quality;
-
support in improving the campus culture;
-
service as a strong role model for students;
-
extension of services to students, staff, or faculty;
-
community outreach;
-
promotion of the school-based law enforcement mission; and
-
dedication to serve SROs above and beyond what is expected of their position.
Nominations may be submitted by peers, supervisors, school personnel, students or community
leaders. The award presentation will be during the Arkansas Safe Schools Conference’s Awards
