Biography of Angela Sharkey, MD
Dr. Sharkey is a Professor of Pediatrics at the Washington University School of Medicine
and St. Louis Children's Hospital and also holds the position of Director, Fetal
Echocardiographic Laboratory and Director, Cardiac Outreach and Fetal Program
Development. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Creighton University in
Psychology. She then received her medical degree from Saint Louis University School of
Medicine and began her residency at Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital. This was
followed by a fellowship at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Dr. Sharkey began
teaching for the division of pediatrics cardiology at Washington University School of
Medicine 1992.
Biography of David Balzer, MD
Dr. Balzer is currently the Director of Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at the St.
Louis Children Hospital. In addition he is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the
Washington University School of Medicine. He received his medical degree from
Saint Louis University School of Medicine. He became a resident at Cardinal Glennon
Children's Hospital. He began his fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology at the
Washington University School of Medicine. . He has been honored in the St. Louis
Magazine as one of St. Louis’ Best Doctors for four consecutive years.
Biography of Chuck Huddleston, MD
Dr Huddleston specializes in pediatric cardiac and thoracic surgery. His other areas of
interest include pediatric heart transplantation, pediatric lung transplantation, adults with
congenital heart disease, and repair of pectus excavatum and carinatum. He is a member
of numerous societies and is on the editorial board of the publications, Pediatric
Transplantation and the Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery. He served on the
Society of Thoracic Surgeons Program Committee in the years 2000 to 2003. He has
published in excess of 100 journal articles and contributed to 19 books.
