Serve as a liaison between the Mathematics Office, coaches and teachers. Disseminate information and materials and arrange for model lessons, as needed. 2. Provide electronic updates to disseminate information regarding resources, conferences, workshops, and mathematics teaching ideas. 3. Conduct at least one parent mathematics workshop during the school year that actively engages parents in activities they can do at home with their children. 4. Lead the preparation for the Math Dice Tournament. 5. Serve as a member of your school’s FASTT Math team to ensure the school implementation. Specific duties will be determined. 6. Assist in the development and implementation of the SOL remediation plan and help develop a “focus group” list of students who need additional support to be successful on Math SOL assessments. 7. Work with the coach to analyze school and county mathematics data to assess student performance, and meet with teachers to discuss using the grade level assessments to inform instruction throughout the year. Support new teachers’ understanding of the elementary mathematics program: 8. Conduct one fall meeting with all new teachers of mathematics, including ESOL/HILT and Special Education, to review curriculum binders; give suggestions for and answer questions about the mathematics curriculum, best instructional practices, and assessment strategies and procedures. Conduct a follow-up meeting midyear to monitor teachers’ needs and their implementation of APS mathematics program. 9. Work with the school math coach throughout the year to make sure that you are distributing (to teachers and administration) the latest curriculum and assessment documents. Respond to the needs of all teachers who teach mathematics: 10. Inventory math texts, tools, and manipulatives, as needed, and coordinate additional ordering if necessary. Make teachers aware of the math resources available in the school. 11. Provide turn around training/in-service to formally share the information learned at each of the math countywide lead teacher meetings. Participate in sustained, ongoing lead teacher professional development: 12. Attend Math lead teacher meetings, including a summer building level meeting of content and instructional lead teacher(s) with building administrator(s). Participate in other mathematics professional development opportunities. 13. Acquire and maintain expertise in the Department of Instruction areas of foci through participation in APS offered coursework/workshops (examples include:UbD Seminar, SIOP, TESA, Cultural Competence, Math Content Academies, etc).
