There's a link to the Amazing Picture Machine Web site which is designed to help educators find pictures, diagrams, and maps that are available on the Internet. The site bookmarks lists of links to sites providing information on current research, services, products, tools, and resources designed to assist educators in meeting the needs of individuals with disabilities. It provides their members with information, networking opportunities, and guidance as they face the challenge of incorporating computers, the Internet, and other new technologies into their schools. The site provides information on professional development opportunities and resources of books about standards. Teacher's resources section includes a listing of current Web sites, books, or periodicals that relate to educational technology. I could use this site to gather information about other sites that offer lessons or ideas in particular grade levels and topics. www.iste.org Transforming Education Through Information Technologies Their mission is to advance higher education by promoting the intelligent use of information technology. Lists upcoming conferences, seminars, institutes, and other professional development events. There's also a "site of the week" which usually features a particular technological University. The site also contains a link to ECAR, which provides timely research and analysis to help higher education leaders make better decisions about information technology. In the classroom, I would use the ECAR link to analyze and research studies, bulletins, and presentations. www.educause.edu EDUTECH Online Resource for Education and Technologies Edutech is an on-line resource for education and technologies. The site offers a variety of options including: sites of the month, an alphabetical search for themes, a query search, and an opportunity to submit a theme to Edutech's data base. The site is committed to providing access to quality research articles in the area of educational technology for all interested readers and educators. Includes articles and feature items in each issue about various technological areas. In my classroom I would use this web site to gather information on technology using the articles from different volumes, for example, "An Analysis of Teacher Concerns Toward Instructional Technology." www.outreach.uiuc.edu/ijet/ From Now On Includes recent articles about technology issues and other educational subjects. It provides information and links to current issues in educational technology and includes ideas for projects that aid teachers in integrating technology into the classroom in different ways. It also has a wide range of web links to aid educators. I would use this web site to follow links to various sites, such as, the Technology Applications Center for Educator Development which provides resources for the instructor and encourages the integration of technology throughout the curriculum www.tcet.unt.edu/ Northwest Educational Technology Consortium The goal of this web site is to provide professional development opportunities, access to technical assistance, and support for collegial interaction that allow and encourage educators throughout our region, and especially in K-12 schools, to become informed and fearless users of technology. Provides access to the NETC newsletter, an electronic library, a link to technology planning which plans strategies and links to technology ideas, and software evaluation, among others. I think the software evaluation would be useful for a classroom teacher because she could read reviews of certain software before purchasing it or using it in the classroom. www.netc.org/
