SportsHall competition proposal

It was agreed that the SSAN Action group should hold 2 SportsHall competitions this autumn as open meetings. 'None attached athletes ’ would be welcome to compete.

However this event would not be advertised in schools.

It was agreed to hold these competitions to encourage Athletes to participate and if the support was good, a more formal league would be created next year. Also an entry fee of £ 2 would be charged to help fund the sports hall hire and meeting costs

On review of the prior cross country fixtures by the clubs in attendance 2 dates we selected:

Sunday 17th October 2010

Sunday 21st November 2010 (Moved from Saturday 20th November due to sports hall availability).

The event would run from 10am to 1 pm - a program to follow.

Age groups for ease of registration would be by school year.

A third date to hold the trials was not possible before the Christmas break due to existing fixtures. The Action group decided to hold just two competitions and select the

Regional Team from these results. It was agreed to agree the regional team selection and have letters sent to athletes by 17th December.

KL agreed to produce a poster and introduction letter for review by the Action group by

24th September for full distribution to clubs by the beginning of October 2010.

Shobnall leisure complex was the only sports center the Action group could identify that had a full selection of SportsHall equipment. It was agreed therefore for this year, both competitions would be held there, subject to availability.

Notes from. SSAN Action Grp. 130910

Sticky numbers would be purchased and entries on the day would be taken. However clubs would be encouraged to fill out team declarations and allocate numbers prior to arrival to speed up registration on the day.

NB. (numbers on order to arrive on Monday 11/10/10, so will be distributed at the meeting on 13/10/10)

Athletes would be encouraged to have a go at various events to get a feel of SportsHall.

Each club would be requested to provide officials for one 'event type'.

Introduction letter to include the above.

Final organization would be agreed at the next meeting (13/10/10).

Junior induction process

Newcastle AC and Stafford Harriers provided documents used in their own induction process and KL. Offered to put together a document of the standard practices used by all clubs for review at the next meeting if time, the document would form a set of guidelines to the Induction process.

Shine Awards

CF gave information of the Shine award system used by Newcastle and promised to request Julia Baily (Shine coordinator) to email full details of the awards to the action group members for review at the next meeting.

Cross Country Relays

KL advised the response to hold a Cross Country relay has been good from Burton Ac and advised they would be happy to hold one in February or March 2011 when the cross country fixtures were over. A target date was set for 18th/19th march 2010.

AOB

The date for the next meeting was set for 7 pm Wednesday 13th October 2010 at the
