JWBA PROGRAM INFORMATION To play for the Junior Wolverines you must live in the Woodstock High School district. Our Junior Program operates as a wholly separate entity from the high school program, but recognizes the importance of consistency and unity throughout all levels. The Junior Wolverines Basketball Association will always seek to emulate the Woodstock High School Program because of this, and the interaction and guidance our high school program offers will remain crucial to our overall program's continued success. All concerns or questions should be shared with your junior program director before seeking any remedy from your grade level coach or the high school.. It is strongly advised that every player have a physical prior to the beginning of each season!!! We have adopted the same guidelines as the high school regarding school grades - athletes cannot have 2 failing grades (F). Coaches will review report cards each time they are distributed. All junior wolverine players will be admitted free to Woodstock home basketball games with a paying adult (this must, however, exclude the Sub-Region Tournament or State Tournament). JWBA PROGRAM INFORMATION Practices & Games Attendance and punctuality is required from every player. If you have to miss or be late to either, contact your Coach A.S.A.P.! Guidelines will be set by each coach, determined by the grade level, but will be similar in most respects to the expectations detailed in the high school “discipline procedures” handout. Please refer to the high school handouts page for general expectations. Your child has to be supervised by a coach at all times while in the Gym. Pick your child up promptly or arrange for transportation. NO player will be left in Gym alone. If a high school team is practicing in the gym, please don’t interrupt- WAIT in the lobby for your coach. THE JWBA COMPETES AS PART OF THE COBB/CHEROKEE JUNIOR BASKETBAL CONFERENCE, AND WILL BE ASSIGNED A “REGION” SCHEDULE IN ADDITION TO PICKING UP OTHER GAMES AMONGST OTHER CCJBC FEEDER PROGRAMS (VISIT WWW.CCJBC.COM FOR MORE INFORMATION) Schedule Schedules will be distributed and/or posted on our website as soon as possible. There are pre-season and/or holiday tournaments, a CCJBC end of season conference tournament, and regular season games. THERE ARE NO GUARANTEES THAT EVERY PLAYER WILL PLAY IN EVERY GAME! Coaches will do the best they can to play them all, but at this level we play to win and will play the best players available! A player has to earn playing time with hustle, skills and most of all - attitude! Players should take every opportunity at practices to improve and compete for the playing time they desire. Score Book / Clock Volunteers will be needed to work the clock and keep the team scorebook during all home games. Each team is responsible for keeping score and running the clock at all home games - correctly. Contact your coach to volunteer. Pictures Team and individual pictures will be scheduled as early as possibleyou will be notified. All pictures have to be paid in advance. Team Moms / Coordinators Help is needed for each team (6, 7, 8) to help coordinate things during the season (telephone calls – concession / tournament workers banquets - etc.) If you would like to volunteer, contact your coach JWBA PROGRAM INFORMATION Transportation Gym Usage Banquet Uniforms If there is a need for transportation to practices or games please contact your coach A.S.A.P. This is not an excuse to miss! Please find out what time practice concludes and pick your child up on time - we will not leave a child alone at the gym. Due to high school practices, please do not arrive for practice more than 15 minutes prior to practice time! We use Woodstock and nearby gyms because we are part of the Woodstock High School Basketball Family. We need everyone's help in keeping these relationships positive by helping to take care of the gyms and lobbies that we are allowed to use... There should be no personal basketballs brought to the gym, no chairs of any type on the gym floor, and no drink cans on the floor or bleachers to be turned over! Please put all your trash in the trashcans before you leave. Your help will allow us to continue using the facilities we have access to as much as possible. Please also refrain from shooting on the side goals during practices- this is very distracting to the players and coaches. During practice we are responsible for the gym, so please help the coaches monitor the lobbies, gyms and rest rooms - report any questionable activity to your coach or director immediately. If you have younger children please keep them quiet and under control during practice - practices are subject to being closed to parents if this becomes a problem. The league will provide trophies or plaques for each player and the time and place of our junior program banquet will be determined later during the season – We will normally organize a group celebration at the High School Cafeteria. Each team has fairly new uniforms and should not be worn anywhere except to games or picture day. They are not to be worn to school or down the street to play basketball. It is the players’ responsibilities to replace any lost or damage uniforms, so please wash with care, and do not remove the strings in the pants. Uniforms must be turned in at the conclusion of the last game of the season. Use cold water and mild detergent (not Tide) and do not wash with dark clothes! Only white socks are to be worn with the uniforms. JWBA PROGRAM INFORMATION Communications with Coaches There is a right time and a wrong time to discuss certain topics with the director or program coaches. Please think about this if you have something to talk about - immediately before, during or immediately after a game is NOT the right time. We have adopted a 24-hour rule for speaking with coaches, as our High School has. Any concerns you have about a game can be discussed during a meeting to be held at least 24 hours after the situation you would like to discuss. As a part of Junior Wolverine Basketball we expect every person, including all coaches, players, parents, and fans, to represent Woodstock with the utmost sportsmanship and character. Sportsmanship Please never embarrass yourself, your child, or Woodstock’s tradition of excellence with any unnecessary actions or comments during a game, practice, or team function. Stay POSITIVE and ENCOURAGING! ATTITUDE is the major factor of all successes and failures, and any negative attitudes will be removed from the junior program. JWBA PROGRAM INFORMATION
