Report of work Name of investigator- Shailaja Dongar Bhangale Name of MRP- Educational problems of mentally Retarded Children in Jalgaon District UGC Ref No- 23-282/98 (WRO) dated 21/01/1999 In this research work investigator throw some light educational problems of the mentally retarded children in jalgaon district. Jalgaon district is one of the highly literate district in ths state of Maharashtra. Investigator studied the educational facilities available in study region and thrie problems related with MR children. Indentify the problems of parents of MR children, educatiojnal problems facing by the special school teachers, commom school teachers, headmasters with reference to classroom teaching and school environment. Educational problems faced by MR children who are going to integrated schools are analysed in this project. In this research project investigator used survey method to study the educational problems of MR children. All MR children upto 3 to 18 years age are population of the project. Purpossive sampling technique was used. The data was callected with the use of Questionnaire and interview. Limited special school facilities are provided for MR children, there are only three special school having recognition of each 40 students. These schools are not residential schools so MR children don’t gain school facilities of special schools. In the study region some MR children learning in integrated schools. But these integrated schools aren’t provided any facilities which MR students have needed. Unsatisfactory performance of MR children in common school due to lack of special educational facvilities. Headmaster and teachers of special schools are facing day to day work problems related to attendence of students, parent’s negletion, and government officer’s beurocracy. There are no awareness of education for MR children in society, common schools and parents of MR children. The research work is done by the original plan work and cover the achicveing the objectives. The collection of data is very difficult to take appointment of parents, time adjustment, and school cooperation, identify MR children are main problems.
