The mission of the Blount County Board of Education is to provide
the highest quality of education while meeting the needs of all
students and creating lifelong learners.
Instructional Content for Blount County Schools
The primary sources of instructional objectives for the Blount County School System are the
various Courses of Study of the State of Alabama. These documents guide all instructional
content, grades K – 12. They are utilized throughout the instructional process: lesson
planning, implementation, presentation, and evaluation.
Goals for All Students
1) To achieve the State’s challenging student performance and content standards
2) To create lifelong learners
3) To have access to technology as in integral part of the curriculum to more fully facilitate
achievement of competency over challenging subject matter.
Report Cards
Report cards are issued following the conclusion of each nine-week grading period.

Guidelines for students passing or failing a grade or subject in available in Blount County
Board of Education Policy Section 5.5. The information is also printed in the Blount County
Parent-Student Handbook.

Student Support Services
The Blount County Board of Education provides a variety of support services and opportunities for its students. Among
them are Special Education, At-Risk Student Support, and Building Based Student Support Team (BBSST).
