Periop ischemia gives a 28 fold increase in cardiac complications within 6 months after surgery, 15 fold increase at 1 year, and 14 fold increase at 2 years. 70% of long term adverse outcomes were preceeded by periop ischemia at least 30 days before the adverse event.
