Dear Music Parent/Guardian:
We are eagerly looking forward to the District Marching Band trip to Disney World!
Below, please find pertinent information about the trip.

Medical/Insurance information: Check to make sure that your child has their
medication with them. All medication must be in original containers. Students should be
aware that they cannot share any medication including Tylenol with other students.
If there have been any insurance changes please make a copy of the new card and health
insurance numbers and submit that information to Ms. Kramer as soon as possible.
Power of Attorney Form: There has been an updated form that is included with this
letter. Please read the form, sign it, and send it back to your child’s home school band
director as soon as possible, but no later than May 11, 2014
IDs: It is imperative that your child carry their ID with them at all times. This must be
the same ID that was given to the band director. Any students that are 18 years old or
older must carry a state issued ID like a birth certificate or driver’s license. A copy will
be acceptable.
Rehearsal: There will be a rehearsal on Sunday, May 11 from 10:00am-12:30pm at
Elmont Memorial High School. Students will be given their “block” number and will be
rehearsing necessary changes to the band formation and music. All students must attend.

Uniforms: Please check that your child has all the parts of their uniforms with them on
Friday, May 16, 2014. The busses will be departing from the home schools at
approximately 4:00pm for the designated airports. This would include: pants, jacket,
sash, plume, hat, black socks and marching band shoes. For color guard: tunic, jazz
pants, black socks and appropriate shoes. Luggage will be checked during the school day.
These uniforms must be in a garment bag inside your child’s suitcase. Your child will be
required to wear a Sewanhaka District Marching Band T-Shirt on Saturday, Sunday, and
Monday. These shirts will be given to your child the day of departure.
Instruments: Please check that your child has their instrument with them on Friday.
Large instruments will be wrapped and shipped with the luggage. Smaller instruments
such as trumpets, and flutes will go on the plane with your child. All instruments should
be labeled with your child’s name, home school and address. Shipping labels will be
provided for your children at the rehearsal on May 11.
Baggage Information: All students will be allowed to pack: One suitcase to ship which
will include their uniform in a garment bag, and one carry on and one personal item
(purse or back pack). Large instruments will be shipped as luggage. All luggage,
instruments and back packs must have identifying tags with the student’s full name and
home school. All student’s luggage will be checked prior to getting on the bus.
Spending Money: Your child will be given dinner and breakfast throughout this trip.
Please give your child spending money for lunch, snacks, and souvenirs as you see fit.
