National School Lunch Program (NSLP) Administrative Reviews Scheduled for the
School Year 2014-2015
The Richard B. Russell National School lunch Act, as amended by the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010
(HHFKA), requires that an Administrative Review to evaluate program requirements is conducted on a three year
cycle. The districts/agencies listed with this announcement have been selected for a School Food Service
Administrative Review, to be conducted during the School Year 2014-2015.
Program reviews are conducted with the intent of not only ensuring regulatory compliance, but also to assist agencies
in improving and strengthening program integrity and management at both the administrative and operational level.
Over the next few months, Districts/agencies will be contacted by ESE School Nutrition Program staff by phone to
schedule the review. An email confirmation will be sent that includes directions on how to prepare for the review and
complete the required off-site assessment components that will need to be submitted prior to the on-site review date.
Please keep in mind that a review for cause may be conducted unannounced at any time.
This administrative review process evaluates the following information and procedures:
 Meal Access and Reimbursement

Meal Pattern and Nutritional Quality

School Nutrition Program Resource Management

Special Provision Programs – Provision 2 or Community Eligibility (If applicable)

Civil Rights Compliance

SFA On-site Monitoring

Local School Wellness Policy

Smart Snacks (All Foods and Beverages Sold in School)

School Meal Environment

Availability of Water

Food Safety and School Food Safety Plan (HACCP Principles)

Reporting and Recordkeeping

Food Service Management Company Contract Administration (If applicable)

School Breakfast Program and Summer Food Service Outreach (If applicable)

