Dear Parents/Guardians 26 June 2015 Newsletter No.35 Sports Week This week all the children have enjoyed taking part in various sports activities:Monday - KS2 took part in house matches, involving netball and hockey. KS1 had great fun with athletics, learning new skills and having competitions with each other. Tuesday – We had great weather for our whole schools sports event which was a great success, mainly due to the excellent behaviour and sporting nature the children displayed. All children enjoyed both competitive and team sporting activities. Winners will be announced in Monday’s assembly. Wednesday – Involved a whole school football tournament. The children from Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 played in one tournament whilst KS2 children played in the other. We had a total of 24 teams with great team spirit being displayed by children. Thursday - Foundation and Key Stage 1 showed great skills in a “dance” competition, whilst children from KS2 played in the Midsummer Football and Netball Tournament which we host each year. Friday – Multi sport activities and head-hunters took place in the afternoon for all children. Midsummer Fair / Football & Netball Tournament Thank you for all your donations towards our Midsummer Fair and for coming along to support the Tournament and the Fair yesterday. Thank you to our PTFA for all their hard work in organising our Fair – you helped raise a grand total of £350 – thank you again! Tournament Results Football – Another good tournament with great sportsmanship from all teams. A very competitive event which was won by Longridge Cof E with Goosnargh Oliverson’s as runners-up. A very spirited performance by Barnacre, narrowly missing out on the semi-finals by goals scored. Well done to all involved. Netball – We were very proud with how the Netball teams performed. B team took part in their 1 st competition and showed a lot of potential. The A team have massively progressed this year, winning 3 out of 6 games, drew 2 and lost 1 (only by 1 goal)!. This resulted in narrowly missing out on the semi-finals, coming 3rd in our group. Thank you to all the children who have attended Netball Club this year. A big thank you to Miss Shorrock and Mr Walton for organising the tournament and to Mr Howarth and Mrs Berry for refereeing, along with staff from the Cluster schools.
