Class Parent Volunteer Form
2014-2015
Being a class parent is a very rewarding job. The benefits include getting to know your child’s teacher, his/her classmates
and parents as well as being the first to know about class and school events.
CLASS PARENT RESPONSIBILITIES: Grades K-4 require 2 class parents who serve as liaisons between the school
and home.
 Coordinate lunch duty coverage. Younger grades may need to coordinate art duty and Friday folders as well.
 Serve as hostess in your classroom during Open House and encourage your classroom’s families to join the PTA.
 Coordinate parent volunteers to help with PTA-sponsored activities such as the Book Fairs, Teacher Appreciation
Week and Boo Bash.
 Assist and/or recruit parent volunteers for your classroom’s teacher with class activities such as field trips and
parties.
 Coordinate emergency early releases
 Forward PTA related messages
5TH GRADE CLASS PARENTS: The 5th grade has 2 class parents per class, and there are additional responsibilities
that require a larger time commitment. In addition to the above responsibilities, these class parents meet formally once a
month to arrange:
 Boo Bash bake sale
 Pizza Bingo ice cream sale
 Yearbook committee
 Arrange the 5th grade class picnic for the end of the year
 Recognition Day DVD
 Design class tee shirt and distribute
 Arrange class gift to school
 Coordinate community service project
PROCEDURE:
 Please complete the form below and drop it to Dina Murphy or Jen Wolfe in the VP Class Parents Box in the
Birdhouse OR mail it Dina Murphy, 15 Dorchester Lane, Riverside, CT 06878.
 Do NOT leave class parent requests by phone or email.
 Class parents will be chosen in August BY LOTTERY after class lists are mailed and notified VIA EMAIL
one week before school starts. If you will not have access to email during that time, please indicate below how we
should reach you.
