Once again we ask for your support in helping the group with their efforts to raise funds for this invaluable service. Special Assembly: On Monday past, Rosie Murray (Trocaire Representative) visited school to present to all our pupils at weekly assembly.Rosie introduced the children to the focus of this year’s Trocaire campaign and took the opportunity to thank all the children, parents and school staff for the work carried out over the last 12 years, since she has become involved with our school. Buns, Buns, Buns: Following last year’s Bunfest for a week, this year each class over the next 5 Fridays will hopefully bring in buns to sell to the rest of the children. Today’s proceedings begin with the children in the P1 class and next Friday, 23rd will be the turn of the P2/3 class and so on. Please ensure the children bring in some money to buy buns if they so wish and even bring in a container to bring home their purchases. Open Enrolment September 2015: The application period has now closed for enrolment to Primary school in September 2015. All parents will receive notification by post of their child’s school placement on Wednesday 29th April 2015. Primary 1 Assembly: The Primary 1 pupils will present their first assembly in our school on Monday 26th January at 10.00am on the theme of St. Brigid and an introduction to Catholic Schools Week. All parents and family members are warmly invited to attend. Primary 7 parents: This week all P7 parents received information relating to the completion of their child’s Transfer Report Form to Post-Primary. For those who requested the opportunity of a meeting, a note will go home on Monday with specific date/time arrangements. For those parents who don’t require assistance, the original form will be sent home at this time also. All documentation must be completed and returned to school by Monday 9th February. Primary 6 parents: There will be a meeting for all parents of present P6 children at 2.10pm on Wednesday 28th January. This meeting is the first meeting to outline Post-primary Transfer arrangements for these children, and please note it is not just about the Transfer Test. Catholic Schools Week: Catholic Schools Week will take place from 25 th – 31st January. This year’s theme is Catholic Schools: Called to Serve. It coincides with Pope Francis’s Year for Consecrated Life. We will explore these themes with the children in each class at an appropriate level. Kilkeel Credit Union Quiz. Kilkeel Credit Union plan to hold their annual Quiz on at 7.00pm on Monday 2nd February in St. Colmans’s Primary School. We would hope to select pupils to enter 2 teams. Children chosen will need to be able to be brought on the night and collected after the event. P1-3 Parent - Teacher Meetings: Parents of children in these respective year groups will shortly receive a letter detailing dates for these meetings due to take place on the week beginning Monday 9th February. Letters will be sent out with each child shortly. Our School in the Parish: All P4 families should have now received a sheet detailing a rota for attending Sunday mass in Our Lady of Lourdes, Grange, to participate at The Offertory of the Mass, as one part of their preparation to receive the sacrament of the Blessed Eucharist. Panto Trips: It is only right to acknowledge the exemplary behaviour, manners and attitude of ALL the children during recent visits to The Pantomimes. It is great to see and fills the accompanying adults with a warming sense of pride on these cold winter days. A credit to all. ECO School Cash for Clobber: It is competition time again as our Recycling collection companylook to encourage pupils and parents to make some space after the christmas period. Each family should have received a letter and collection sack for beginning the process. All sacks eligible for the competition should be returned to school on/before Monday 26th Jan. Remember, our last competition drive earned us over 500 pounds for school funds AND there are House Points on offer also. Travelling Book Fair: This year the Travelling Book Fair will be in school from Thursday 29th Jan – Thursday 5th Feb. The Fair provides parents will an excellent opportunity to purchase from a wide range of appropriate reading material, while also raising commission for our schoool to spend on buying books. Football at the Kingdom: Coaching for all children from P3-7 will commence on Wednesday afternoons up at an Riocht from next week. A permission note follows on Monday.
