Proliferation assay in MiaPaCa-2(A) and Panc1(B). There was no difference of growth curve
between Ep-CAM transfected cell and the others. Ep-CAM; Ep-CAM expression vector

control.

The pictures of invasion and migration assay in MiaPaCa-2 and Panc1. Invaded or
migrated cells through the membrane were stained. There were apparently less invaded or
migrated cells in Ep-CAM transfected cell line than the others (Bar=50µm). Ep-CAM; EpCAM expression vector transfected cell line, Mock; Mock vector transfected cell, Control;

Relationship between Ep-CAM expression and overall survival rate in each institute. Both
in Osaka Univ. and OMCC, Ep-CAM high expression group showed significantly good
prognosis (3-year survival; 55.4% versus 19.7%, p=0.016, 58.7% versus 17.8%, p=0.048,
respectively).

group(n=40) and LN positive group (n=55). LN negative group showed bigger difference of
prognosis between Ep-CAM high and low group than LN positive group.

significant difference among each group.

scoring. There was no significant relationship among each group. Immunostaining for
fibronectin was not performed because we couldn’t get a good antibody of fibronectin for IHC.

We revaluated the relationship between Ep-CAM expression and overall survival by
dividing enrolled 95 patients into three groups, “high expression” with over 6 of scoring
(n=20), “middle expression” with 3 to 6(n=55), and “low expression” with under 3 (n=20).
High expression group showed better prognosis than the other two groups and the overall
survival rate decreased gradually according to the level of Ep-CAM expression with a
marginally significance (p=0.09).
