We wish you many blessings in 2016! I would like to welcome everyone back and a very warm welcome to new families who have joined our school family since the Christmas holiday break. If there is anything that we can do to make the transition easier for your child(ren), please do not hesitate to contact your child(ren)’s teacher or myself. We are committed to a wonderful school experience and are happy to help. “The Word of God, with God from the beginning, does not remain in splendid isolation. It comes down, joins us and lifts us up. That is the essence of the Christmas message.” Fr. Robert Barron WEATHER Students are expected to go outside at recesses and noon hour. When dressed for the weather, fresh air and playtime/socializing with friends are enjoyable. As the WINTER temperature dips, it is definitely time for warm clothing. We live in a climate where extreme weather conditions do at times limit outside activities. Please note that when the temperature is -27 C or colder (with or without windchill), it will be an indoor recess. 2016-2017 KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION & OPEN HOUSE Now is the time to come in and register your child! If your child will be five-years-old by Jan. 31, 2016, he or she can begin Kindergarten in September, 2016. All parents/guardians and children who are eligible for Kindergarten in September of 2016 are encouraged to attend. Parents/Guardians will have an opportunity to meet the Kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Lori Flamand. There is also a draw for prizes for students who participate. Here are the upcoming dates: Monday, January 18 - Constable Schwartz Monday, January 25 - Fireman Delorme Monday, February 1 - Candace Bloomquist Monday, February 8 - TBD The sessions start at 8:20 a.m. and will be in the library. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Lauralee Sutherland at 306-659-7300. PARKING AND DROPPING OFF STUDENTS We greatly appreciate that the majority of our parents/guardians safely drop their children off at school. Please keep the following in mind when dropping off and picking up the students to ensure the utmost safety: Drop students off and pick them up on the school side of Avenue P as students dropped off on the other side of the street tend to try to cross between traffic. Please park correctly on the right hand side of the road on 31 St. W. Please do not use the staff parking lot for dropping off or picking up students as staff members come and go throughout the day. Students also should not be walking through the parking lot as they are not always visible to those in vehicles. Park outside of the bus zones to avoid costly tickets from the traffic enforcement officers. Please let the children out on the passenger side to avoid exposing them to traffic on the driver’s side. Saskatoon City Police have been and will be monitoring our school zones and ticketing people who are speeding, making U turns and/or parking illegally.
