Wednesday-Wacky Wednesday A- This lesson plan is for a second grade classroom. This lesson plan will be taught in February, the Monday before Dr. Seuss’s birthday. This lesson plan assumes that all students are on or above their grade level in language. S-The studet will be able to make aliterations and create a calendar for the month of February. They will also be able to take the aliterations and form a journal entry with an illustration. S-The teacher will read the book, “Wacky Wednesday” to the class. Students will use Cat and the Hat handwriting paper to practice proper writing technique. Students will use the calendar to show proficiency in knowing the days of the week. The students will use journal paper to write their Wacky Wednesday rhymes and then illustrate them in the picture frame on the journal paper. U-Through the following tasks students will learn practice following directions as well as the days of the week. This will show the students that learning can be fun. Process 1. Print name on the top left side of the paper and the date on the top right side of the paper. The date should be in long form (month day, year ) and then below it in short form (M-D-Y). 2. On each line, starting on the left side, write the days of the week and their aliterations. 3. On your calendar sheet write your aliterations and fill in the numbers per the month. 4. Choose an aliteration and write a story using it in your journal. 5. Illustrate your journal. R-Students will participate in class by listening and writing.
