CONTINUOUS AND COMPREHENSIVE EVALUATION You are aware that the Central Board of Secondary Education has introduced Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation [CCE] in its affiliated schools. The total school year is divided into first and second term. Each term contains two Formative Assessment and one Summative Assessment. Formative assessment will comprise of Projects, Assignments, Activities and Class Tests/Periodic tests for which board has already issued guidelines to schools. • The summative assessment will comprise of theory paper as per the prescribed design of Question Paper. Whether there is sufficient knowledge about any area of study is usually known by conducting a summative test at the end of each term. This text covers a sample of the entire course and is divided into difficult and easy questions. • The prescribed syllabus will be assessed using Formative and Summative assessments in the following manner. First Term Weightage Formative Assessment 1 10% Formative Assessment 2 10% Summative Assessment 1 30% Total 50% Second Term Weightage Formative Assessment 3 10% Formative Assessment 4 10% Summative Assessment 2 30% Total 50% So, in brief, Formative Assessment 1, 2, 3 and 4 40% Summative Assessment 1 and 2 60% Total 100% ANNUAL CALENDAR 2012-13 No. of Teaching Days BREAKDOWN OF PERIODS : 210 No. of Examination Days : 14 Summer Vacations (15 May 12 to 01 Jul 12) : 48 Autumn Break (01 Oct to 10 Oct 12) : 10 Winter Break (31 Dec 12 to 11 Jan 13) : 12 Special Holidays (Principal’s Discretion) : 07 Second Saturdays, Sundays & Gazetted Holidays : 64 Total Days : 365 No. of Periods per Day (Excluding Assembly, Recess, Extra Coaching, Sports) : (40 min x 8 = 5 hrs 20 min) No. of Teaching Days : 210 Total Number of Periods : 210 x 8 = 1680 Total Number of Teaching hours : 210 x 5 hrs 20 mins = 1120 hrs Assembly : 30 mins / day Recess : 20 mins / day MONTHS APR-MAY EXAM TERM-I FA–I CONTENTS (CHAPTER REF TEXT BOOK) SUGGESTED ACTIVITIES LITERATURE READER : 1.How I taught my Grandmother to read (PROSE) 1.
