Eph. 6:10-12; Finally, my brethren, be strong in
the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on
the whole armor of God, that you may be able to
stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do
not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against
principalities, against powers, against the rulers of
the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of
wickedness in the heavenly places
Eph 6:13-14; Therefore take up the whole
armor of God, that you may be able to
withstand in the evil day, and having done all,
to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your
waist with truth, having put on the breastplate
of righteousness…
Eph. 6:15; and having shod your feet with the
preparation of the gospel of peace
The “Feet” is that part of us that touches the
world on a daily basis
• James 4:4; the world is at enmity with God
• 1 John 5:19; the world lies under the sway of the
•
wicked one
1 John 2:16; the world consists of the lust of the
eyes, lust of the flesh, pride of life
The “Feet” is that part of us that touches the
world on a daily basis
• We must be prepared and protected from the
•
•
hostile worldliness through which we tread!
“You’re not supposed to hide from the world, you’re
supposed to be out in the marketplace, on the
highways and byways of life engaging culture,
interacting with people…
“But as you go, you gotta’ have the proper shoes!”
“SHOD YOUR FEET…”
• Greek – “hupodeo”
• To bind tightly; to secure firmly
• It implies an act that you do for yourself (not
relying on anyone to do it for you)
“SHOD YOUR FEET…”
• A metaphor for private, personal preparation
• The “feet” is that part of us that makes contact
•
with the hostile terrain of this world
Many are not living victoriously because they
neglect times of private, personal preparation
for contact with the world
“SHOD YOUR FEET…WITH PREPARATION”
• Prepared for where you are going to walk, and
•
•
how you’re going to walk through it
We must be intentionally, proactively, prepared
for our contact with this world
Matt. 25 – The Parable of the Ten Virgins
‒ Be Ready!
Proactive Repentance
• “Sharpen your sword before the battle!”
• If you wait until temptation comes to fight
•
temptation—it’s too late!
Get your shoes on ahead of time, be prepared
for your contact with this world…repent,
renounce and declare!
Take heed of the “Pebble in your shoe”
• The enemy can’t remove your shoe, but he will
•
•
try to put a pebble in it…
The enemy just wants a little place in our lives
Eph. 4:27; nor give place to the devil
Shod your feet with the preparation of THE
GOSPEL OF PEACE
• Peace is not the absence of conflict, it is the
•
assurance that all is well and victory is imminent
Roms. 16:20; And the God of peace will crush
Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our
Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
