Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness… Eph. 6:15; and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace The “Feet” is that part of us that touches the world on a daily basis • James 4:4; the world is at enmity with God • 1 John 5:19; the world lies under the sway of the • wicked one 1 John 2:16; the world consists of the lust of the eyes, lust of the flesh, pride of life The “Feet” is that part of us that touches the world on a daily basis • We must be prepared and protected from the • • hostile worldliness through which we tread! “You’re not supposed to hide from the world, you’re supposed to be out in the marketplace, on the highways and byways of life engaging culture, interacting with people… “But as you go, you gotta’ have the proper shoes!” “SHOD YOUR FEET…” • Greek – “hupodeo” • To bind tightly; to secure firmly • It implies an act that you do for yourself (not relying on anyone to do it for you) “SHOD YOUR FEET…” • A metaphor for private, personal preparation • The “feet” is that part of us that makes contact • with the hostile terrain of this world Many are not living victoriously because they neglect times of private, personal preparation for contact with the world “SHOD YOUR FEET…WITH PREPARATION” • Prepared for where you are going to walk, and • • how you’re going to walk through it We must be intentionally, proactively, prepared for our contact with this world Matt. 25 – The Parable of the Ten Virgins ‒ Be Ready! Proactive Repentance • “Sharpen your sword before the battle!” • If you wait until temptation comes to fight • temptation—it’s too late! Get your shoes on ahead of time, be prepared for your contact with this world…repent, renounce and declare! Take heed of the “Pebble in your shoe” • The enemy can’t remove your shoe, but he will • • try to put a pebble in it… The enemy just wants a little place in our lives Eph. 4:27; nor give place to the devil Shod your feet with the preparation of THE GOSPEL OF PEACE • Peace is not the absence of conflict, it is the • assurance that all is well and victory is imminent Roms. 16:20; And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly.
