Defensive Philosophy • Keep it simple • Know your position (alignment, technique, and responsibility) • Know the weakness of the defense. • Know your opponent • Stunt as little as possible • Get to the ball and make the play But most importantly, HIT! PREPARATION • Scouting – Jim Smith (4 to 5 films on each opponent) • We expect our players to study film. • Jim or I will break down the films (by hand) • I compile the Tendencies by formation. Draw up plays. • The staff meets to discuss defense. • In practice we rep & reinforce, rep & reinforce the opponent offense.
