The speaker will also address individualising insulin choice and regimens. The second talk will focus on managing diabetes in the peadiatric population and the inherent challenges • Aim of session 2 The first talk will provide a review and an update on new therapeutic options for type 2 diabetes and their role in patient management. The speaker will also provide an update on the place of these new guidelines in the management of type 2 diabetes. The second talk will focus on difficult cases in the management of Type 2 diabetes. • Aim of session 3 This session covers and updates on hyperlipidaemia, macrovascular complications of type 2 diabetes. The first talk is on macrovascular disease in type 2 diabetes. This talk will explores the impact of glycaemic control, lipid modification therapy and lowering blood pressure on prevention of macrovascular disease in type 2 diabetes. The second talk will provide a review and an update on management of hyperlipidaemia and recent trials outcomes. The speaker will also present an update on national and international guidelines. The talk will include interactive case based discussions. The third talk addresses the prevalence of coronary heart disease in patients with type 2 diabetes, when to investigate and refer to cardiology clinics. Management and challenges facing cardiologists will also be discussed.
