Barry leads the Company’s Shingle Recycling Program which connects
Roofing Contractors with reliable Shingle Recyclers and homeowners with roofing contractors who have taken the Preferred Contractor Shingle
Recycling Pledge, a commitment to which gives them marketing tools, reduces costs and increases convenience of recycling. Over 1,000,000 tons of shingles have been recycled through the Program since it began and has over 500 pledged Preferred Contractors. This Program is in alliance with
Earth911 to connect roofing contractors with recycling services and
Heritage Environmental Services to expand shingle recycling operations.
Barry also leads new business development through shingle recycling.
He currently serves as the chair of the Roofing Recycling Task Force within the Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association.

At the age of 28, J Bretz founded Excel Roofing in 1993. Excel’s focus has always been residential re-roofing. During the last 20 years, Excel Roofing has removed hundreds of thousands of squares of old roofing material and sent the majority of this material to landfills. When asphalt shingle recycling was occurring in Denver, Excel quickly embraced the idea and re-trained their crews to the requirements necessary to recycle asphalt shingles. Excel quickly became one of the largest recyclers of asphalt shingles in the country.

Mr. Lambert currently manages 5 crews and the equipment for Asphalt
Shingle Grinding Service LLC as they travel the country processing shingles for Asphalt Companies, Recycling Centers and Paving Contractors. Since the late 1980’s, he has been personally involved in producing well over a million tons of RAS, both manufacturers’ waste and post consumer or tear off shingles. This experience has given him extensive "hands-on" knowledge of the ins and outs of turning Asphalt Shingles into a useful product. ASGS client list includes some of the largest asphalt companies in the US and some of the smallest and caters to their specific needs by utilizing the right equipment and processing methods in a cost effective way. This has led him to believe that by getting roofing contractors and the recycler to work together in making the processing of RAS more cost effective, the potential for industry growth is, "Through The Roof!"

• Asphalt Shingle Recycling Systems
After 23 years in the building materials business, Dan Horton left his executive position at IKO Industries, a roofing manufacturer, to establish Asphalt Shingle
Recycling (ASR) Systems in 2009. He has patented a method of recovery of raw material from shingles for re-use by roofing manufacturers, roofing related products, and the paving industry. ASR Systems is currently operating in Bristol, TN.
Dan's team is proud of cleaning up approximately 30,000 tons of a competitor's speculative storm collection of asphalt roofing shingles in Knoxville, Tennessee. The effort preserved shingle recyclers reputation in Tennessee and further developed a positive influence on the state's Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ).
Dan Horton believes that an extensive national asbestos study is a necessary step towards widespread adoption of shingle recycling. Such a study will establish the safety of recycled shingle products and increase sustainability in the roofing industry. That is why he has spearheaded the campaign to utilize Green Squares' software to aggregate data yielding a comprehensive view of asbestos incidence rates. Dan is calling for all shingle recyclers and industry members to join him in the effort by contributing statistics and considering sponsorship.
