ADVERBS
• An adverb is a single word or a
phrase that tells us more about a
verb. There are adverbs of:
• Manner
• Frequency
• Time
• Degree
Adverbs of manner
– FORM:
1.-to make to make an adverb of manner we often add –ly to the
adjective.

2.-some adverbs of manner are irregular.

Some adverbs of time are:
-yesterday-this week - tomorrow
-last week -next week -the other day
-today
-at the moment –tonight
-late
-early.
USE
• Adverbs of time tell us when something
happened, happens or will happen.
• Example:
I will see you tomorrow

• Form
1.-Some single word adverbs or frequency are:
-Always -often -sometimes -seldom
-usually -never –regularly -rarely
-frequently -ocasionally -generally
• 2.-some adverbial phrases of frequency
are:
-every day -every week -every month
-every morning.
USE
1.-adverbs of frequency tell us how often
something happens.
2.-we usually use adverbs of frequency with
simple tenses,not progressive tenses.
3.-we use a positive verb with never
EXAMPLES
1.- He goes jogging every day
2.-greg is sometimes later for school.
2.-vicky often ate eggs for supper.
3.-the twins never take Archie to the park
