(2) What is the cultural and historical value of the Amber Room? They are in search of more than the Amber Room itself. More importantly, they are in search of the rich culture and long history behind the Amber Room. The relationship between Germany (formerly known as Prussia) and Russia is complex. They have been friends, enemies and cooperative partners. Their relationship goes through ups and downs. The changing state of the Amber Room reflects the changes in the relationship between the two countries. At first, the Amber Room was designed for the palace of FrederickⅠ. However, Frederick WilliamⅠ, whom the Amber Room belonged to, gave it to Peter the Great as a gift of friendship in 1716. In return, the Czar sent him a troop of his best soldiers. The Amber Room served as a reception hall for important visitors. Later, Catherine Ⅱ had the room moved and added more details to it, making it one of the wonders of the world. But unluckily, then came the time when the two countries were at war. The Amber Room was stolen by the Nazis in 1941. After that, what happened to it remains a mystery. Recently, it has been rebuilt by Germany and Russia . Thank you !
