浅谈课文标题在高中英语
阅读中的运用
黄岩中学 杨谢友
一、缘起
 标题本身的特点:题为文眼
 课文编者的意图:必修1-5, 25篇精读16篇
有“Look at the title and the pictures and
predict the content.”

M 8U2 Reading: Cloning: Where is it leading us?
Cloning: Where is it leading us?
Topic
Basic
information
Advantages
Cloning is way of making an exact copy of another
animal and plant.
Disadvantages
Newspapers have told stories of evil leaders hoping to
clone themselves and religious leaders have raised
moral questions.
Conclusion
However, scientists still wonder whether cloning will
help or harm us and where it is leading us.
First, gardeners can use it all the time to produce
commercial quantities of plants.
Second, it is valuable for research on new plant species
and for medical research on animals.
What do you think is the writer’s point of view in this reading?
Is it in favour of cloning or against it?
M6U4 Reading:

Suggestion
What’s the writer’s attitude towards
different actions of cultural body
language?
neutral
These actions are not good or bad, but are simply
ways in which cultures have developed.
What does the title mean? What’s the purpose of
this passage?
Communication problems are everywhere and
different actions are no good or bad. What’s
important for us is to study international customs
and then learn to accept and respect each other in
today’s world of cultural crossroads!
M1U1 Anne’s Best Friend
 时代背景:二战期间,为躲避纳粹分子的迫害,

思考题:
Are people just in search of the Amber Room
itself? What else are they in search of?
Relationship
a reception hall
friends
cooperating countries
two separate countries a summer palace
Time
a palace of
FrederickⅠ
1716
1941
now
enemies
(1) What were the roles the Amber Room played during
different periods of history?
(2) What is the cultural and historical value of the Amber
Room?
 They are in search of more than the Amber
Room itself. More importantly, they are in
search of the rich culture and long history
behind the Amber Room. The relationship
between Germany (formerly known as Prussia)
and Russia is complex. They have been
friends, enemies and cooperative partners.
Their relationship goes through ups and downs.
The changing state of the Amber Room
reflects the changes in the relationship
between the two countries.
 At first, the Amber Room was designed for the
palace of FrederickⅠ. However, Frederick
WilliamⅠ, whom the Amber Room belonged to,
gave it to Peter the Great as a gift of friendship in
1716. In return, the Czar sent him a troop of his
best soldiers. The Amber Room served as a
reception hall for important visitors. Later,
Catherine Ⅱ had the room moved and added
more details to it, making it one of the wonders of
the world. But unluckily, then came the time
when the two countries were at war. The Amber
Room was stolen by the Nazis in 1941. After that,
what happened to it remains a mystery. Recently,
it has been rebuilt by Germany and Russia .
