Anti-Reflection and Nanomaterials

An anti-reflective coating is achieved
by depositing thin films of alternating
refractive indexes
• By engineering the refractive indexes
and thicknesses of these films,
visible reflections are reduced and
transmission is improved
• Nano-scale additives must be used to
avoid transmission losses and
scattering that occur with larger
particles
