Pultruded Fiberglass Components About Us Established in 1976, Mihir Engineers Limited today is one of the largest manufacturers of FRP and RCC Cooling Towers with over 27,000 installations in India & abroad It gives us immense pride in introducing our new group company “Stronglite Composites”. Stronglite Composites specializes in range of PULTRUDED FRP profiles. Our Pultruded profiles are manufactured at a state of the art Pultrusion Manufacturing Facility equipped with a state of the art Material Testing Facility at Rajpur in Gujarat giving us complete control over Design, Manufacturing and Quality Control for these components. All our profiles are tested and certified to possess mechanical properties comparable to steel by the Department of Aerospace Engineering at IIT Madras Pultrusion Process Pultrusion is a continuous process for manufacture of composite materials with constant cross-section The unique advantages possible with FRP have enabled pultruded profiles to penetrate markets where other materials could not meet the design or end use requirements efficiently Pultruded Fiberglass v/s Traditional Materials Physical & Chemical Properties Pultruded FRP Rigid PVC Mild Steel Stainless Steel Wood Specific Gravity 1.8 1.38 7.8 7.92 0.52 Thermal Conductivity (Kcal/hr/m2/° C) 24.4 6.4 1220 732.00 0.4 Coeff. of Linear Expansion (cm/cm° C) x 10-6 5.2 37 8 10 1.7 Safe Working Temp. In many structural applications where wood rots and metals corrode, pultruded FRP products will last indefinitely with little or no maintenance. Stronglite's pultruded structural shapes have a high strength-to-weight ratio and pound for pound are stronger than steel in the lengthwise direction. Weight FRP materials are light weight. Generally on an equal volume basis, pultruded fiberglass will weigh only 25% of the weight of steel and 70% of the weight of aluminum. This feature can significantly impact installation costs, reduce the risk for injury and result in less structural support from foundations or supporting structures Product Advantages Electrical Conductivity Thermal Conductivity Fiberglass products are extremely low in electrical conductivity. Nonconductive products provide significant safety benefits in many applications such as those found in electrical substations products and power poles Fiberglass products are low in thermal conductivity and FRP products do not expand or contract like metals. This feature can provide a significant degree of thermal insulation Ease of Fabrication FRP can be field fabricated using simple carpenter tools with carbide or diamond tip blades; no torches or welding is required. Fiberglass materials are also lightweight, resulting in easier erection and installation. Various Products & Markets Pultruded Fiberglass Profiles can be used in various applications: Structural Applications – Cooling Towers, Work Platforms, Structural Beams, Scaffolding Electrical Applications – Utility Poles, Cross Arms Access Systems – Ladders, Staircases & Related Structures Gratings - Walkways, Maint. & Operator’s Platforms, Machine Decks, Floors, Pallets, Covers (for Tanks, Gutters & Trenches etc.) Cable Trays Systems - Perforated & Ladder Type with all accessories Fiberglass Pultruded Grating FRP Grating made out of pultruded section is an ideal solution for the corrosion problems faced in Industrial environments It is an ideal replacement for steel or aluminum gratings used in highly corrosive atmosphere FRP Grating often outlasts steel 20 to 1 times and it is a long term investment, where frequent grating and walkways replacement cost are unacceptable Mechanical Properties of Fiberglass Pultruded Gratings Pultruded Gratings are manufactured by assembly of Pultruded I Beams (Load Bearing members) & Pultruded Cross Rods (Cross Locking members) The distance between the I Beams is 40 mm, whereas the distance between the Cross Rod varies as per the Load requirement of the application. Cross Rod Distance Recommended Load I-Beam Size 25 MM I-Beam Size 30 MM 300 MM 400 Kg/ Sq. Mtr 500 Kg/ Sq. Mtr 200 MM 500 Kg/ Sq. Mtr. 750 Kg/ Sq. Mtr 150 MM 750 Kg/ Sq. Mtr. 1000 Kg/ Sq. Mtr Cable Management System FRP Cable Trays are of the highest quality, they are strong, chemical resistant, fire retardant, Have electric insulation and are UV protected. FRP Cable Trays are lightweight, cut to length and can be quickly installed. Handrails & Ladder Systems FRP Handrail, Ladders and Access Systems offer long life, low maintenance solutions Our Access Systems are lightweight and offer high resistance towards corrosion. Easy to fabricate, the installed cost of composite Handrails and Ladders is often lower than that of steel Being a fiberglass reinforced composite, the handrails and ladders are thermally and electrically non conductive, offer excellent UV resistance and are extremely durable in extreme outdoor environments Fiberglass Crossarms Fiberglass Crossarms are designed for the standard crossarm load capacity as specified by Bureau of Indian Standards IS 10192-1982 (Reaffirmed in2005) Fiberglass Crossarms offer the following advantages High Strength Light Weight Long Life Easier to install Excellent Electrical Properties Fiberglass Crossarms As Alternative to Steel Crossarms ADVANTAGE OVER CONVENTIONAL CROSS ARMS PROPERTIES STEEL WOOD FIBRE GLASS INSULATION GOOD CONDUCTOR BAD CONDUCTOR INSULATOR CORROSION HIGH CORROSION ROTS & DETERIORATES NON CORROSIVE WEIGHT HEAVY HEAVY LIGHT INSTALLATION CUMBERSOME CUMBERSOME EASY Cooling Tower Solutions There is an increasing demand for the use of composites in cooling tower applications We manufacture a complete range of composite products for use in Cooling Towers including Pultruded Structural Frame Pultruded Decking Partition Walls & Claddings Pultruded Stairways & Walk Ways Ladders & Handrails Louvers Cable Management Systems Thank You
