operations track record in the most
demanding aviation environments
in such countries as the Islamic
Republic of Afghanistan, The
Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste,
the Islamic Republic of Pakistan,
Papua New Guinea and African
Republics.
PANH Helicopters has been
providing world class services in the
most remote and hard-to-reach
locations. Nowadays PANH
Helicopters performs urgent
passenger and cargo delivery day
and night 24/7. Refugees, food and
medical supplies, constructional
materials, household equipment are
delivered throughout the day and
night in any weather conditions to
outlands, where UN and ISAF camps
are located.
Flight operations often proceed in adverse weather conditions at temperature range of -25 up to +45 degrees, severe
dust storms, heavy rainfalls, poor equipped landing sites, and high mountains (up to 4000 m) that result in wind shear,
turbulence and icing. Unsecure operating conditions mean that fuel is often of low grade, storage conditions of spare
parts, tools and equipment intended to be applied for maintenance and repair performing are often undue.

Helicopter Equipment Configuration
The aircraft fleet used for
contracts with the UN consists
of Mi-8, KA-32, and Mi-26
helicopters. The specified
traditional helicopters are
operated within 30-50 years;
however they are very reliable
and low-maintenance. So, for
example, the Mi-8 helicopter is
equipped with old system of
dust protection, however it is
unexpendable for blades wear
protection at operations in the
dusty conditions. Availability of
the traditional anti-icing system
on all operated helicopters
types gives the chance to
operate in the icing conditions.
This system demonstrates
rather reliable performance.
Specific of work within UN
contracts consist in necessity
for flight operations in the lack
of references situation. The
basic navigation completion of
the above-mentioned
helicopters does not always
provide safe operations.
Therefore at putting up of
helicopters for the contract,
depending on the region of
aerial works, service
conditions it is necessary to
upgrade them by installation
of new more recent flight
navigation equipment. We
would like to express our
gratitude to Mil Moscow
Helicopter Plant which helps
with the solution of this
problem.
Helicopter Maintenance
Maintenance features in operating sites. While performing various types of maintenance on
considerable distance from the main base we are faced with certain difficulties. First of all while
organizing operating maintenance base we often are confronted with significant deficiency of
facilities to place required equipment and tools. I would like to point out that our helicopters are
low-maintenance and reliable, and engineering and technical personnel are highly qualified to
perform maintenance in dust storm or to replace engine provided that there is no lifting device. In
spite of the fact it does not cause operational defects and aviation incidents.
