implement a single integrated library system
 2007 provincial election – change in government
 2008 Ministry of Education funding for SILS is granted

Former Interlibrary Loan (ILLO) Structure
 Followed ISO 10160/10161 standards for ILLOs
between systems
 Protocols balanced the number of items borrowed vs.
the number loaned for partner libraries
 ILLOs were filled in sequence - geographically
 Supported by Provincial Library using Resource
Sharing System software
New Interlibrary Loan (ILLO) Structure
 In-province public library ILLOs are treated as HOLDS
 ILLOs are filled in using a geographic order
 Van delivery allows loaning of A/V materials that are not
covered by the Library Book Rate
 Balance the number of items borrowed vs. the number
loaned for partner libraries
 Large urban libraries have not seen large imbalances in
interlibrary loans.
