Cost Estimates of VOTERS Components
UVM-GPR
• cost of prototype $55,000 hardware
• cost of duplication in low quantities $50,000 hardware
• estimated cost for medium and high quantity commercial version
maybe under $10,000
ESS-GPR
• Estimated cost in low quantities for prototype versions of the ESS Gen3 GPR radar
system for GEARS is $3500. This includes the electronics, housing, and acquisition
software, but does not include antennas.
• Multiply this number time the number of antenna pairs needed for the GEARS
array system. For example, a system with 16 antenna pairs would cost about $56k,
a third of currently available slower commercial GPR arrays

How to commercialize?
• Reduce equipment cost and outfit many vehicles
– Sell hardware and maintain systems
– Maintenance and training
– MAP-GIS software subscription, data management
• Outfit one vehicle per region and survey continuously
– By subscription – Whole city gets updated data every x months
– Data on demand, recent data collected within 6 months always
available, whoever wants it can purchase it
– Survey upon request (old model)
• Combine with other mobile data collection
– Mobile SI platform adaptable, expandable, and scalable
