DepEd is implementing a
package of policy called
Basic Education Sector
Reform Agenda (BESRA) with
the objectives of improving
educational outcomes.
One of the key reform thrust
of BESRA is focusing on
continuous school
improvement of the
stakeholders. This is based
on the principle that those
directly involved in and
affected by school operations
are the best to plan, manage
and improve the school.
Through School-Based
Management, Ubujan
Elementary School was able
to set goals and objectives
that directed its course of
action for school
improvement.

maintenance program that draws all
education stakeholders – including the
private sector — to contribute their time,
efforts and resources to ensure that
public schools are physically ready for
the opening of classes.
 To institutionalize the Adopt-A-School Program
in the community, maximize civil participation
and utilize local resources to improve public
schools, Ubujan Elementary School Teaching
Force spearheaded the conduct of Brigada
Eskwela 2009. The program brought teachers,
pupils, parents and community members to
work together in preparing our school for
school opening. In the spirit of Bayanihan,
private institutions/individuals and even the
local government units contributed in
generating resources for the effort.
 During the week-long event, volunteers take time of
repairing/repainting of roofs, gutters, walls, ceilings,
blackboards, canteen,
clinic, repair of chairs, desks tables, windows, doors,
comfort rooms, replacement of electrical connections &
lighting facilities, repairs & improvement of water
facilities & drainage system, school fencing, repaired &
