About me
Tulika-means the hair of a paint brush actually she herself is a painter of modern Hindi
songs with her Golden voice. The ordinary, emotional and spiritual Sai Bhakt girl from
Delhi, wear a ring for luck and the one always expected and hyped for the next and first
female Indian Idol has always been the strongest contender of the crown now been voted
out for a average folk round performance. Tulika is blessed with a good dancing quality
too. The peppy yet moody Tulika had given several great and consistent performances on
the Indian Idol stage. She was the most popular female singer in the Indian Idol Series 4
with complete package-Voice, Looks and Performance. In the piano rounds she sang the
song ‘yahi re’ from Rangeela, nayi nayi baatein from Parinita and Talli ho Gayi from Ugly
Paagli with a great stage performances and won very good accolades from the judges like
Annu Malik, Javed Akhtar saab, Kailash Kher and Sonali Bendre. Even Javedji , in the
second Piano, Commented – if not Sunidhi Chauhan it had to be Tulika to sing the song
only. In the 3rd Piano when she sang Talli Annuji said it is outstanding and in a press
conference he said only she could better the song of Talli which is sung by his daughter. In
1st Gala she sang Aayie meherban from Howrah bridge. Totally different from other peppy
songs and she received outstanding comments from all the judges and even Annuji said
she was the malika of the stage for that day for her awesome performance.
She had a consistency in her performance and she worked audience well throughout
the journey of Indian idol. Only one average performance took her out of the shows
and she made a brave exit by singing a great comedy song of Kishorda “ eena meena
deeka.” When in an interview she was asked about her exit she told it is the start of her
Journey just, and she will be back with a bang. Hats off to Tulika, the girl from Delhi.
Tulika took birth in Faridabad, Haryana in august, 1987. At the age of 3 she lost her
nani and when she was 8 she lost her mom in Kolkata. Her mom was a classical singer
and she had a great influence on her child. She took some talim from a classical singer
named Abhijit Guha for 3years. Due to lack of interest from her nearest kins the
learning process of singing has been very inconsistent. She left Kolkata, when she
passed class 10th and began to start living with her Masi in Delhi, with a dream in her
eyes to become the most popular stage performer. Here in Delhi she got some support
from her uncle and aunt and her talent was recognized in the various stages of Delhi,
specially at C.R.Park she is called Geeta Dutt, Junior. She achieved the title of the best
bhajan singer in the inter school singing competition. She won so many prizes and
entertained audience with her great presence. She has done her graduation in political
Science from Gargi. College of Delhi University. She takes talim from Mr. Kalyan Roy,
the great Ghazal singer from Patna and Delhi. Tulika at present settled in Mumbai
associated with famous Essar Group of Industries and doing shows in India & abroad.
