Be aware – Filtering and Logging!!!
Filtering Update
Filtering Safeguards our Pupils and Staff from the
unwanted areas of the internet.
Any suspicious access is reported back to school or
the police.
How does this work?
Generally URL Filtering..... However...
Google are adding a virtual spanner in the works
that in Jan 2015 they will move all of their traffic
to SSL (HTTPS).
Address Logging
10.150.218.10
SWGfL LOGS
10.150.218.10 – www.Google.com
10.150.218.11 – www.Office365.com
10.150.218.11
10.150.218.12
10.150.218.12 – www.Naughty.com
Internet access can be tracked back to IP.
Server logs can tract IP to User
Address Logging with NAT
10.150.218.10
10.150.218.1
SWGfL LOGS
10.150.218.1 – www.Google.com
10.150.218.1 – www.Office365.com
10.150.218.11
10.150.218.12
10.150.218.1 – www.Naughty.com
Internet access can be tracked back to only 1 IP.
Internet provider can not show access from any
specific machine.
School would require advanced logging on NAT
server to track IP to User, and User to Web Address
