What is the School’s
Constitutional Form?
 Founded by Trust Deed by the United Congregation of Israelites in
Jamaica (UCIJ) as a contribution by the community to national
development
 Established as a non-denominational school and managed based upon
ethical principles and religious tolerance
 Governed by a Board of Governors appointed by four Trustees (who are in
turn appointed by the UCIJ)
 Run as a “Not for Profit” organisation – any and all operating surpluses
are reinvested for the benefit of the school community

All preparations in place for accreditation visit April
2011 and accreditation granted with commendations
Master Facilities Plan was revised to incorporate
and prioritise School needs in the context of
updated School Improvement Plan
 Delayed due late delivery of development project
 New Head of Sports appointed. Manifest
improvement in participation, school spirit, and
performance in inter-school competitions.

Accreditation Quality Assurance Team inspection, April, 2011
 Hillel received a glowing endorsement and was re-accredited by the AdvancEd / Southern
Association of Colleges and Schools
GSAT Overall Averages:
• 2011 – 90% 2010 - 91.1%, 2009 – 87.3%; 2008 – 87.1%; 2007 – 86%; 2006 – 87.3%; 2005 –
86.7%; 2004 – 86.5%
University Scholarships
• 2009: received scholarships worth US$213K
• 2010: 53 universities have offered places in the USA, UK, Canada, India and Korea;
• 2010: US$700K in scholarships offered
• 2011: 80 universities have offered places in the US,UK, Brazil and Canada
• 2011: US$1.3M (first year value) in scholarships to date
• Congratulations to:
• Prep School Staff and Students on excellent GSAT Results
• IGCSE student & faculty for excellent pass rate of 99.68% (from A* - E as established by CIE)
and 92.18% (from A* - C)
• IB students and teachers for excellent results, including 2 students with 39 points

Table Tennis 2010 - 2011:
•High School Under -16 Boys reached the ISSA semi-finals in Table Tennis.
•Prep School Team reached finals of the national tournament
•PratikHarjani national under-10 and under-12 champion!
Football – Prep School reached the quarter finals of the Alberga Cup Competition
Swimming 2010- 11:
•ASAJ Prep Schools Competition – All island champion 2010
•Mayberry Investments Schools Swim Meet 2011- 2nd place
•Burger King/YMCA Prep Schools Swim Meet - 2nd place
•Nestle Ice Cream Swimming Championships - 2nd place
•Yonatan Goren and Barak Goren,Yonatan Goren, Bronze Medal at Carifta, 2010 ; Brandon Reid and Yonatan
Goren represented Jamaica, 2011
Lawn Tennis:

Hillel Academy Community Service Projects
• International Coastal Clean-up Day (HS)
• Heart Fund Run 2011(PS & HS) – Raised $744,494, highest of any school
in Jamaica again this year
• Cancer Relay For Life (HS)
• Visits and activities for Schools, Orphanages and Rehab Centres (HS & PS)
• Basic School/Children’s and Elderly Homes Treats & Donations (HS &PS)
• Special Outreach activities
• Christmas & Easter Bun & cheese Treats (PS & HS)
• New Day Basic School
•
Through a combination of many activities, Hillel Students have raised and
donated a total of nearly $2 million to deserving causes and charities
•
Graduating classes, Grade 6, donated landscaping for the School, as well as
their community service projects. Grade 6 supports New Day Basic School
library. Grades 11 and 13 contributed money towards the cafeteria renewal.
