FUMC Kingdom School Christmas Program December 14, 2014 Costumes/Props Halos White Shawls Sunglasses for ALL Instruments Candles (battery powered) Manger Baby Jesus ACT I “Angels” Narrator: Read Older Kid as younger kids file in as angels, and stand in semi-circle behind & around manger “Love came down at Christmas, Love all lovely, Love Divine, Love was born at Christmas, Star and Angels gave the sign.” Away in a Manger 1st Verse: All kids – with traditional hand actions, played on the piano Away in a manger, no crib for a bed, The little Lord Jesus laid down His sweet head. The stars in the sky looked down where He lay, The little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay Kids “freeze” in angel position – holding candles or prayer position with hands Narrator: Older Kid The angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the City of David, a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.” Narrator: Older Kid “And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.” Narrator: Older Kid “And suddenly, there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, and goodwill toward men.” Silent Night 1st Verse: All kids – played on the piano Silent night, holy night! All is calm, all is bright. Round yon Virgin, Mother and Child. Holy infant so tender and mild. Sleep in heavenly peace, Sleep in heavenly peace. Kids “freeze” in angel position – holding candles or prayer position with hands Narrator: Older Kid “For God so loved the world, That He gave His only Son, That whoever believes in him Shall not perish, But have eternal life.” John 3:16 ACT II “Excited Hearts” Narrator: Older Kid to the younger ones “That means Jesus was the first Christmas present – to us!” All Kids: Excitedly “That. Is. AWESOME!!” (cheer) Older Kid: Point at the sound person “Hey! Turn up the music, please!” Sound person Kids put on nods, puts on sunglasses, and starts the song. sunglasses, grab instruments, and use candles as “microphones.” Start out with kids singing and dancing (music on CD) [Older girls do some easy choreography?] They need to know the first 11 lines the best During the line *“they see a bright new shining star, they hear a choir sing a song, the music seemed to come from afar”* one kid will get the choir to their feet – they could put on sunglasses too if they wanted – and the kid will direct the choir. Choir comes in on “Hark, now hear the angels sing…” Kids get the congregation & pastor to stand, dance, clap along, etc. Projection should have words Mary’s Boy Child Mary’s boy child Jesus Christ was born on Christmas Day And man will live forevermore because of Christmas Day Mary’s Boy Child Long time ago in Bethlehem, So the Holy Bible said Mary’s boy child Jesus Christ Was born on Christmas Day Mary’s Boy Child Hark, now hear the angels sing, A king was born today And man will live forevermore because of Christmas Day Mary’s boy child Jesus Christ was born on Christmas Day Mary’s Boy Child While shepherds watch their flock by night *They see a bright new shining star They hear a choir sing a song The music seemed to come from afar* Mary’s Boy Child Hark, now hear the angels sing, A king was born today And man will live forevermore because of Christmas Day Mary’s Boy Child For a moment the world was aglow, all the bells rang out There were tears of joy and laughter People shouted “Let everyone know. Younger kids sit back in semi-circle where they started. Narrator: “Is it over already?” Older kid – happy, but disappointed All younger kids smile and shake heads “no”.
