A two in one device:
1. Surveillance tool and at the same time,
2. a trap; reducing the population density
(collects eggs).
It is also an attractant trap of which the eggs are deposited on the paddle.
The trap consists of a black container, a small strip of lawanit or tongue depressor and water.
It is used as a means of detecting mosquitoes as well as an approximate gauge of the adult population in an area.
It can be used to estimate fairly well the population of adult mosquitoes in the environment by counting the number of eggs laid on the moist paddle.
In this way, a sudden increase of mosquito population can be detected.
