Objective of the Memorandum of

Agreement:

• jointly undertake the pursuit of addressing the pressing concern for the prevalence of dengue.

The MOA is an inter-agency cooperation strategy for intensifying the anti-dengue drive of the government.

Objective of the Project:

• Maintain, update and enhance website for dengue vector surveillance in participating schools nationwide

• Updated reporting of OL index for appropriate intervention

• Provide a “warning system” (white safe red Alert ) for dengue vector surveillance

The program has two components:

Importance of the Website:

• for immediate intervention and action to prevent dengue outbreak.

• serve as monitoring tool for dengue coordinators, city health officers and other public health practitioners.

• provides information on mosquito density data as well as warning alerts, health advisory and actions to be undertaken from DOH.

• readily accessed by the public and other concerned groups.

Why we need to install the OL Trap System?

Why we need to install the OL Trap System?

 A two in one device:

1. Surveillance tool and at the same time,

2. a trap; reducing the population density

(collects eggs).

 It is also an attractant trap of which the eggs are deposited on the paddle.

 The trap consists of a black container, a small strip of lawanit or tongue depressor and water.

 It is used as a means of detecting mosquitoes as well as an approximate gauge of the adult population in an area.

 It can be used to estimate fairly well the population of adult mosquitoes in the environment by counting the number of eggs laid on the moist paddle.

 In this way, a sudden increase of mosquito population can be detected.
