Norway holds the presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers in 2012. The main theme of the Programme
for the Norwegian presidency is ”The welfare state in a Nordic perspective”. The presidency’s programme for
culture is based on the premise that if the welfare state’s development is to be sustainable, it must be infused
with an understanding of the importance of culture and participation for society’s development as a whole.
This is the backdrop to devoting a Nordic symposium to architecture.
The Nordic Council of Ministers, the Norwegian Ministry of Culture and Norsk Form (the Foundation for Design
and Architecture in Norway) are inviting decision-makers and representatives from professional communities
in the field of architecture from all of the Nordic countries. The objective is to exchange experiences, skills and
expertise, as well as to promote networking.

Nordisk ministerråd, Det norske formannskapet i Nordisk ministerråd v/Kulturdepartementet og Norsk
Form inviterer til to påfølgende dager om arkitektur, samfunns-ansvar og arkitekturpolitikk.
Til den 19. november inviteres 120 representanter fra beslutningstakere og fagmiljøer innenfor
arkitekturfeltet fra hele Norden til et nordisk symposium om arkitekturens samfunnsansvar.
Den 20. november inviteres beslutningstakere og fagmiljøer involvert i det norske arkitekturpolitiske
arbeidet til status-symposiet status.nå 2012 - Norsk arkitekturpolitikk.
Nordisk symposium om arkitekturens samfunnsansvar
Norge har formannskapet i Nordisk ministerråd i 2012. Overskriften for det norske
formannskapsprogrammet er ”Velferdsstaten i et nordisk perspektiv”. Formannskapsprogrammet
for kulturområdet legger til grunn at en bærekraftig utvikling av velferdsstaten må ta opp i seg
betydningen av kultur og deltakelse for hele samfunnets utvikling. I dette perspektivet settes
arkitektur på dagsorden under et nordisk symposium.
Dette nordiske symposiet skal diskutere arkitekturens samfunnsansvar i den nordiske
velferdsstaten:
- Velferdsstatens byggeoppgaver – hvordan ivaretas de?
- Rom for kultur - arenaer for sosialisering og inkludering.
- En arkitektur preget av velferd – er det en nordisk identitet?

Til Symposiet inviterer Nordisk ministerråd, Kulturdepartementet og Norsk Form ca. 120
beslutningstakere og fagmiljøer innenfor arkitekturfeltet fra hele Norden.
Hensikten med symposiet er erfaringsutveksling, kompetanse- og nettverksbygging.
Det er ingen konferanseavgift for de inviterte deltakere. (Reise og opphold dekkes av den enkelte
deltaker). Konferansen vil direkteoverføres for et større publikum og kan følges på

The Nordic Council of Ministers, the Norwegian Presidency of the Nordic Council of Ministers
represented by the Norwegian Ministry of Culture and Norsk Form (the Foundation for Design
and Architecture in Norway) cordially invite attendants to two consecutive days of architecture,
social responsibility and architectural policy. For November the 19th, 120 decision-makers and
representatives from professional communities in the field of architecture from all of the
Nordic countries are invited to a Nordic symposium on the social responsibility of architecture.
On November the 20th decision-makers and professional communities involved in Norwegian
architectural policy-making are invited to the status symposium “status.now 2012 – Norwegian
architectural policy.”
Nordic symposium on architecture and social responsibility

The Nordic Council of Ministers, the Norwegian Ministry of Culture and Norsk Form (the

the Nordic countries. The objective is to exchange experiences, skills and expertise, as well as to
promote networking.
There is no conference fee for the invited participants. (However, participants must obtain their
own funding for travel and accommodation expenses.) The conference will be broadcast live to a
wider audience, and can be followed on www.norskform.no
