Rahab’s Monthly Meeting is Every 3rd Monday From 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Shelter Fellowship Teams Community Outreach Transportation Communications Hospitality Domestic Violence Volunteer Training Rahab International Measureable Results Rahab has 35 to 40 volunteers that are actively serving. Also, Rahab have about 40 volunteers that completed 20 hours of domestic violence training. In 2010 Rahab Shelter Fellowship teams served 351 women and children in the shelters. In 2010 Rahab served Thanksgiving dinner to over 70 women and children at the Family Place shelter. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE STATISTICS 1 in 4 women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime. (NCADV) Around the world, at least one in every three women has been beaten, coerced into sex or otherwise abused during her lifetime. Most often, the abuser is a member of her own family. 85% of reported domestic violence cases the victims are women. Every 9 seconds, a woman is battered by in the United States by her husband, boyfriend, and live-in partner. What is Domestic Violence? • Domestic violence is the willful intimidation, physical assault, battery, sexual assault, and/or abusive behavior perpetrated by and intimate partner against another. • Domestic violence is an issue of control. • How does Rahab serve domestic violence survivors and provide domestic violence awareness? Domestic Violence: Reaching A Silent Population Most cases of domestic violence are never reported to the police according to National Coalition Against Domestic Violence (NCADV) Rahab International is a voice to impact the silence of domestic violence in our church and community. Ecclesiastes 3:7 Domestic Violence: Psychological Impact • Domestic violence survivors live in a prison of fear that leads to depression and other psychological problems. • Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. I Peter 5:7 Domestic Violence: Verbal Impact • Domestic violence survivors have to overcome the verbal attacks of the abuser. Self-esteem and confidence is often damaged. • “Death and life is in the power of the tongue…” Pro. 18:21 Domestic Violence: Physical Impact • Domestic violence physical impact is often hidden until the issue cannot be hidden any longer. • “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” John 10:10 CONFIDENCE “Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward.” Heb. 10:35 Rahab provides support to domestic violence survivors so they can gain confidence in Christ and in themselves. How Can the Church Help Rahab Serve Domestic Violence Survivors? • Rahab International/Megacare partner events to serve church and community. Ministry products & donations. • Domestic violence training for all church leadership elders/ministers, deacons, & etc. • Domestic violence service event that includes our internet audience this will allow Rahab to share helpful domestic violence information to a greater spectrum of people.
