TDX: repository for Doctoral Theses
• Over 10.000 theses
• We wanted to do something practical in preservation
MetaArchive cooperative:
• Bunch of institutions with digital preservation
needs
• 30 members approx.
• most of them in the USA (including the
Library of Congress)
• just 2 in Europe
MetaArchive working model:
• Each institution runs a node (cache).
• Every cache is a dark archive.
• The network of all caches is controlled via the
LOCKSS software.
• There are 6 copies of each collection spread over
the network.
• The network continuously checks the integrity of the
data.
• In case of problem, the system can recover the data.
It would be nice to have more partners in Europe.
The more we are, the more fun we have.
