In English we will be studying the life and works of Edgar Allan Poe.
He is considered the “American Master of Horror” and “The Master
of the Detective Story.”
Tasks
I. You will use the research process to
take notes and cite sources on the
life, achievements, and works of
Edgar Allan Poe.
II. You will use technology to research
and create a PowerPoint presentation
based on your research.
Tasks

• Collecting information from a number of
different resources
• Writing notes in your own words
• Using books, encyclopedias, and the Internet
to locate information and create a
presentation

•Accessing images on Google and other
resources that are appropriate matches to your
information
•Completing a Works Cited page in order to cite
your sources (this means to show where you got
your information)

The Process
Next week you will be able to access the
library for research.
2. You will work with a partner on your project
in order to become an expert on Edgar Allan
Poe.
3. To complete the research, a variety of
resources must be used and cited. This
includes two books, one multimedia source
(song/film clip/magazine), and one website
(no Wikipedia!).
PowerPoint Requirements
•
You will use a template to create your
PowerPoint presentation.
•
Each presentation must begin with a Title
Slide. It will include your name, period, title,
and an image.
•
Make sure each slide has notes and an
appropriate image.
•
The last slide will be your Works Cited Sheet.

•In order to prepare you for College,
references must be done in correct MLA
format.

Sheet. You must have an email address to
access the website. The best part is that it
is free! You will find a link to help you with
this on the library webpage.
