Grant Application Process Community Philanthropic Committee of the Rotary Club of West Chester 2007 - 2008 What Is A Grant? • Community Philanthropic Grants provide limited financial support for worthy, nonprofit organizations in the Greater West Chester Community. • Grants range from $500 to $5,000. • Grants are for one year only. – They are not automatically renewed. How Are Grants Awarded? • Any member in good standing of the Rotary Club of West Chester can submit an application. – Non-profit organizations can also apply directly. • Applications are reviewed by the Community Philanthropic Committee for – consistency with the mission of Rotary International, – priorities of the Rotary Club of West Chester as expressed in the recent survey, and – the approved budget. – Preference is given to projects which have a big impact on the community. • Recommendations are then sent to the board for final approval. Who Is Eligible? • IRS recognized non-profit organization • Provides humanitarian services in the Greater West Chester Community • Recipients are expected to – Treat funds as a sacred trust – Maintain clear and accurate accounting – Return funds not spent within one year with an explanation Timetable • Applications can be submitted throughout the year. • The Committee will review the applications twice a year in November and May – This is to prevent a first come - first served race. – Club members will be provided an opportunity to comment on applicants as part of the review. • The Board will act on the Committee recommendations in December and June. – Funds will be distributed in December and June.
