Editing your partner’s personal
narrative about their worst day
ever!
Do you have your partner’s narrative in
front of you?

Can you tell what your partner is
writing about just by looking at their
first paragraph?
Hint: You should make sure you know that their narrative is about their worst
day ever just by looking at the very first paragraph.

Use a black marker and underline all
places where you see dialogue (look
for quotation marks) in the narrative.

write “Need more dialogue” and put it on
the paper.

narrative.
•Use an orange highlighter to highlight what happened in the afternoon the
narrative.
•Use a blue highlighter to highlight what happened in the evening in the
narrative.

Read this carefully:
Take a large green PostIt. Write “morning, afternoon, evening” on it as if you were
making a list. Then put a check mark next to the parts that are missing from the
narrative. Stick this PostIt on the back of the paper.

all of the different describing words
that you see.
