innovation platforms;
• Innovation platforms  Three IP meetings held in
Mucumbura and Two meetings in Chibuto
• Varying results:
• Chaimite: difficult to get the group together, president not
involved...
• Mukumbura: several challenges address by IP  weight
scale, training in cattle branding, farmer to farmer training
(45) in dry season feeding techniques, forage bank
Activities in FY11 – Objective 2

– One nursery of Amora alba - established in Chibuto
– Fodder cuttings and seedlings (Amora alba;
Leucaena leucocephala, and Moringa olifeira)available to the Chibuto IP members.
– Multiplication of elephant grass by one participant
for distribution to other farmers
Most of the individual forage banks have dried or
eaten by goats...
Activities in FY11 – Objective 2

Activities in FY11 – Objective 4
To generate evidence to support and guide livestock
development
• M&E commissions at IP level established and trained
• Regular meetings conducted with SDAE and SPP staff
on project progress
Suggested way forward FY12
We’ll need to strengthen what was done in FY11:
• No new activities, emphasis on setting up
farmer to farmer training programs to out scale
activities.
• Need to strengthen IP functioning, especially in
Chibuto.
• Conduct field days for NGO’s that could take up
the approach used & implement elsewhere
• …
Suggested way PIAIT platform
Given its unique position, the platform should
give strategic advice on possible collaboration
between IIAM and CG centres.
Host 3 monthly meetings with in depth
presentation on certain project and allow for
brainstorm on possible future joined projects.
