Controversy and Criticism THE VIETNAM WAR: A PICTORIAL HISTORY The Vietnam War: Some context Up until the so-called Global War on Terrorism began after the 9/11 attacks in late 2001 the Vietnam War was considered the most controversial military action in U.S. history. Because many Americans so no direct threat to the U.S. by the Communists in North Vietnam this military conflict was considered very controversial. Because the U.S. already had experience with two “Red Scares” (1920s and 1950s) the nation was well aware of the threat of communism. Over 58,000 U.S. military personnel eventually died fighting in the Vietnam War. Four U.S. presidents acted as Commander-in-Chief during this “war.” TASK: ANALYZING IMAGES RELATED TO THE VIETNAM WAR Complete the MS Word Chart I have provided to match this slide show.
